Timeline: How the Shooting of Alex Jeffrey Pretti Unfolded (Gift Article)
A moment-by-moment analysis of video from the scene shows that Mr. Pretti was already restrained when fatal shots were fired, which appears to contradict the federal government’s account of the event.

Authorities say the latest fatal shooting by immigration agents was carried out by Border Patrol.

Theyve been led in Minneapolis, as in Chicago, by Greg Bovino.

I traveled to the Mexico border — where he worked before being unleashed in the cities — for this pod open.spotify.com/episode/0FEq...

Soren helped & encouraged many Chicago journalists (including me & @wttw.bsky.social) to join BlueSky — let’s help Pullman Arts recover from this and return the favor
Our community-run art gallery flooded. Building management will get the space back into habitable condition, but we lost a bunch of stuff and we're closed for who knows how long.

We're a tiny volunteer org that spends like $20K a year, so a $3,000 emergency is a big problem. Please help us out:

She recently asked the Obama Foundation for help; areas surrounding the Obama Presidential Center are facing threats of displacement.

Rick Garcia’s decades shaping LGBTQ+ civil rights in Chicago and Illinois
Rick Garcia, the longtime Chicago gay activist who played a key role in passing Chicago’s Human Rights Ordinance, died Jan. 12 at 69. Garcia was a central figure in Chicago and Illinois LGBTQ+ civil rights advocacy for decades, helping to build the political infrastructure that led to expanding protections against discrimination at the city, county and state levels. He later co-founded the Illinois Federation for Human Rights—now known as Equality Illinois—which became a central force in advancing LGBTQ+ civil rights legislation across the state.
