We loved taking some photos of folks biking in New York City - maybe someone should start a New Yorkers Who Bike 😉
viktorkoves.com
And here's some NYC bike scenes from today - I love seeing folks just going about their day, but on a bike
A man in a brown jacket and red helmet on a classic blue Citi bike A woman in a brown dress and black belt and long black boots bikes by on a Citi ebike while a man making deliveries waits at a light A man in blue jeans and a green camo jacket with a blue milk crate on the back of his bike rolling through a bike lane while another deliverista rolls past, and some folks walk past on the left

We're so excited to get our copy of Life After Cars from @thewaroncars.bsky.social in a few weeks, and we got their sticker just the week before we headed to New York City! We know it's going to be a fabulous read.

Now we're off to bike in the Big Apple 🚴🏻‍♂️

What can Chicago learn from cities around the world? We have one last clip from @betterstreetschicago.org's panel event with @nerd4cities.bsky.social, with Dixon from Southwest Collective and Ray from CityNerd both talking about what they think Chicago should copy! (spoiler, it's BRT and bollards!)

September was a huge month for Chicago's Divvy bikeshare system! A few highlights & pics of some great new stations:

✅ Installed 28 new docking stations across the city
✅ 900,000 total rides, shattering September records
✅ 475,000 ride taken on e-bikes
Counter clockwise starting from Left:
1. Divvy station on street between bike lane and travel lane Washington/Wabash in the Loop
2. Divvy station on street AND sidewalk at Sheffield/Addison outside of Wrigley Field greatly expanded
3. Divvy station on sidewalk Halsted/Fulton right outside of the entry Fulton Market
4. A new "angled" Divvy station in Bucktown that preserves more sidewalk space by being angled at 45 degrees

Oh look, it's Viktor! We got photographed while photographing Meet Me on Milwaukee, and it really was a blast

@davidpowe.bsky.social and @viktorkoves.com were both sharing the love of car-free places, and the ❗ means they meant it!

Today marks the start of #WeekWithoutDriving and the forecast looks great for walking, biking, & public transit!

WWD is a chance to challenge yourself to cut back on vehicle trips and try other ways of getting around.

Let’s build communities that are inclusive and accessible for everyone.

When you open a street up to people - anything can happen! It was fantastic to be out for another beautiful Meet Me On Milwaukee, hosted by @aldermanlaspata.bsky.social! We saw little kids riding their bikes, tandems, strollers, dogs, dining, DJs, and a lot more.

What street should do this next?
A large number of people walking along an open Milwaukee Avenue, including parents with a double stroller and a trike stroller A woman and man on a tandem bike with a tadpole kids attachment on the back, with a young girl on the back on Milwaukee Ave A number of folks lined up for $5 terrible portraits on Milwaukee Ave Two skateboarders going through the sunset on Milwaukee Ave, casting long shadows

We enjoyed this month's Meet Me on Milwaukee so much, we made a little montage. We saw folks playing violin, guitar, a DJ set, and a whole lot more, so make sure to check out the next one on October 26th!

And our last clip from the event for now: Ray (@nerd4cities.bsky.social) elegantly explains the high cost of car-ownership, but how people don't notice what it costs them - not just in money, but in health and community.
chiwho.bike
Next up, @leniann.bsky.social speaking about Edgewater upzoning, and getting more neighbors around transit!
chiwho.bike
And we took a few clips too - first, @nerd4cities.bsky.social speaking to affordability: "it's expensive to live in a place that has really dense transit infrastructure and walkability... it's hard to find a place where you can live true to your values if you want to live a low car lifestyle."
chiwho.bike
And shout-outs as well to the other panel guests, @leniann.bsky.social, and @swcollectivechi.bsky.social
Ray & Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth toasting small red solo cups with a shot of Malort in them Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth taking a photo with the panel guests and Kyle Lucas from Better Streets Chicago Ray (CityNerd) holding a sticker of an L train while sitting on the stage, looking astonishingly at a guest

We had the special honor of getting to photograph @nerd4cities.bsky.social for @betterstreetschicago.org a few days ago, and it was an absolute treat. It was an amazing event, talking about the importance of transit, reducing housing costs, and a lot more!

We always love joining @chicritmass.bsky.social , and this time was no exception - it was a beautiful route travelling through Little Village, down the Magnificent Mile, and ending at Buckingham Fountain! Can you find yourself or a friend in our photos? 👀
