Divvy just recorded its highest monthly ridership ever and the busiest single day in program history!

By improving Chicago’s bike network and making Divvy more affordable and accessible, the City of Chicago is continuing to make Chicago an even more bike-friendly city. 🚲
Divvy breaks ridership records!
- July 2025: 940,000+ rides – highest monthly total in program history
- August 2, 2025: 40,000+ rides – highest single-day ridership ever.

“while our region has developed and evolved over the past several decades, our regional transit system has not.“

And I didn’t realize this before:
“At the regional level, suburb-to-suburb commutes far outnumber suburb-to-city commutes”

Humpty Dumpty keeps falling off the wall, and while we’ve gotten very efficient at putting him back together each time, it’s time to start thinking about the wall as the real problem.

“While recent projections from the RTA may impact the timing of the fiscal cliff by a few months, the bottom line remains: Transit cannot wait, and we need better, safer, more reliable service now,” Amy Rynell, our Executive Director on behalf of the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition.
RTA cuts 2026 transit gap in half — but funding fight remains
The RTA has cut its 2026 transit deficit projection, but advocates warn the smaller number could give lawmakers an excuse to delay a long-term bailout.

Chicago really is becoming a bigger and bigger biking city - look at all the bikes I saw parked downtown on lunch!
A man in the Dearborn protected bike lane waiting on a light to change Bike parking in front of Chase Tower truly filled to the brim Tons of Divvy bikes filling up and overflowing a station on Dearborn Ave next to a two way protected bike lane

They do! However, those solar panels are on each dock to power the locking mechanism, not to recharge batteries. We do have a lot of electrified stations that charge batteries and a lot more planned!

Yep! Lots of new stations planned across the City this year!

Great to see Illinois funding rail transit!
• $388.8 million for re-establishing passenger rail service between Chicago and the Quad Cities with a new intermediate stop in Geneseo.
• $270 million to re-establish passenger rail service between Rockford and Chicago.
• $98 million for safety and reliability improvements on Amtrak’s Saluki service between Chicago and Carbondale.

Truly remarkable month - I felt like I was back home in Alabama (weather-wise lol)!!

September was a huge month for Chicago's Divvy bikeshare system! A few highlights & pics of some great new stations:

✅ Installed 28 new docking stations across the city
✅ 900,000 total rides, shattering September records
✅ 475,000 ride taken on e-bikes
Counter clockwise starting from Left:
1. Divvy station on street between bike lane and travel lane Washington/Wabash in the Loop
2. Divvy station on street AND sidewalk at Sheffield/Addison outside of Wrigley Field greatly expanded
3. Divvy station on sidewalk Halsted/Fulton right outside of the entry Fulton Market
4. A new "angled" Divvy station in Bucktown that preserves more sidewalk space by being angled at 45 degrees

Another new Divvy station is live in River North at Rush & Illinois!
This was the 28th station installed in September. It takes up no parking, no sidewalk space, and will help keep the public way uniform and clear from devices. Divvy is rapidly expanding and ridership is booming!

Two new Divvy bikeshare stations went down today!
📍Carpenter St & Fulton St in West Loop
📍Wacker Dr & Randolph St in the Loop
These stations help meet demand in the busiest parts of the City while keeping the sidewalk more uniform.

Two new Divvy stations just went down in Lake View!
📍Sheffield Ave & Fletcher St
📍Clark St & Fletcher St
These stations help densify the network, serve CTA rail & bus lines, support dense housing & commercial areas, and provide more docks for more rides.

The best Sunday of the month: Meet Me On Milwaukee! Had a blast with @spragg.bsky.social supporting local businesses and soaking up some rays.

Awesome! We’ve also put out a ton of new stations this year and still have a lot left to install. Happy riding!
davidpowe.bsky.social
Correct! Launched this year along with:
- member ebike trips capped at $5.70 for minutes 31 to 45
- pause function
- $99 membership for new/lapsed members
- price freeze on annual membership for current members
Last year we removed out of station park fees w/n 40m of full station for members

Thanks for the suggestion. We're spending Nov/Dec evaluating where we might move location to better serve riders & connections to transit. Stay tuned and please share any other ideas :)
