If you're a dude, and I follow you back, and you immediately hop into my DM's for a chitty chat, you'll swiftly get a blockety block.
This is the first time I've seen a story in the wild quote from BlueSky. Keep up the good work everyone!

Everyone on BlueSky should be paying attention to what's happening over at TikTok. Just saying.

Someone asked me why I use my real name on social media apps.

The reason is because I don't want to hide behind a fake name anymore.

I want to make sure every post I make is done with mindfulness and intention.

I also quit drinking 5+ years ago and don't worry about waking up to drunk skeets.

So, the TikTok ban actually went through on my American friends. 🥺 One good unexpected thing to happen is it's exposed all of the bot farms pretending to be Americans. My block finger is resting on ice right now. Here are my predictions of what I think might happen next week ⬇️

Here's why America can't make Canada it's 51st state according to Maclean's Magazine.

American #tiktokrefugees accidentally made this Canadian from Vancouver the honorary CEO of Rednote. He was just being a helpful Canadian welcoming new users to the app! Now he's probably going to have to testify in Congress. 😅

I'm going to miss Americans on TikTok. Still praying for a Hail Mary.

➡️ BlueSky to replace "X"
➡️ Pixelfed to replace Instagram
➡️ Rednote to replace TikTok

✴️I don't think Rednote is going to stick. I think the Chinese government will kick us out this time. People keep helping them with their English homework and getting it wrong. 😅

What else is out there? 🤔

The next app to get big will be Pixelfed. An Instagram dupe with a chronological algorithm much like the one that Instagram used to have before it was ruined and big accounts were pushed into your feed. Pixelfed has 10k downloads already and I predict 100k by this time next week. pixelfed.org

American TikTok users are downloading and using a Chinese owned app called RedNote to protest the impending TikYok ban. They've made RedNote the most downloaded app in Apple Store and are calling themselves TikTok refugees.

Ok. This is going to be controversial but with everyone talking about Trump over on X and everyone talking about Trump over here all that is being accomplished is that everyone is talking about Trump. We really need to post about other things too.

If we want that shit, there are other sites that are only a click away, that have all anyone could want.

In 2008 I accepted a job as a Financial Advisor at a downtown Vancouver boutique firm. Days later the financial crisis hit. I had an orchestra seat to "The Great Recession" and witnessed Mark Carney's dedication to protect Canada from the after shock.

Skeptical Liberal Caucus? Who?? What??? Do you know how lucky we would be to have the man who saved us from the financial crisis in 2008 as PM with what is going on in the world right now????

Mark Carney is who Canada needs right now.

This brings me no joy. In fact it fills me with anxiety. But I also believe it's time. I think he was an amazing Prime Minister and made (most) Canadians proud. Ten years is a long time.

The failed tax vacation was the final straw. Anybody paying attention to corporate greed since 2020 would know that the 15% GST tax break would never make it to the public. It was an excuse to raise prices 15%. An expensive corporate bailout and consumers lose again.

The people on BlueSky are anxious but that's not the only thing that has changed. I'm seeing the start of tribalism, ad hominem attacks, sock puppets and 🌽. The bots and trolls are here and it's going to be off putting for some. Personally I love my block button.
I see people musing that the vibe here has changed, and I would urge people to remember that there's a lot of anxiety about the change of administration in two weeks and that's going to leak into a lot of other places in one's life. Be as gracious as you can with yourself and others.
