There's a school of thought which suggests that the only way to disable the fascist movement is to stop shielding MAGA voters from the consequences of their actions.

Well, now that the GOP administration is disabling disease surveillance, response, and even basic research, there's no shield. 1/ 🧵
We appear to be seeing an uptick of devastating flu-associated Acute Necrotizing Encephalitis in children this season. We've had reports here in No. Cal. Others out of Boston. We're piecemealing things together because there's no active surveillance for ANE, and CDC can't communicate with partners.

Experts are talking about a potential small increase in a very rare condition

Autism does not need to be cured. Disabled people are people, not a drain on society. Fascist scum is though.

I see a lot of people falling into the "this is pointless" trap, and I can only say it so many ways — though I suspect I will have to write something specifically about it on this front — but the bottom line is that we must expect compliance. Anything less is just making noncompliance easier.

Sen Van Hollen met with El Salvador's Vice President Félix Ulloa, who told him that the reason they are holding Kilmar Abrego Garcia at CECOT is because the Trump admin is paying them to do so.

They also provided no evidence that Abrego Garcia is part of MS-13 or committed any crimes.

Reminders:

"Concentration camps" aren't the same as "extermination camps." Both were/are horrific.

Most Nazi camps were *outside Germany*, away from the eyes of German citizens.

Those trains? Were to, uh, deport the category of people whose lives were deemed unimportant.

Never again is now.

Exiling people beyond the protection of US law without due process is not only unconstitutional, it's a rejection of the entire American revolutionary project. Sending people "beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences" is one of the grievances enumerated in the Declaration of Independence.
UPDATE: Trump seems to say for the first time that U.S. lacks ability to recover those sent to El Salvador if government deports someone erroneously. Says it’s totally up to Bukele. Seems to leave out that he could … ask Bukele to help fix an error. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

Have we any collective conscience left? Innocent people rounded up to rot, to endure torture, barbarism, and humiliation. All to show his white base he’s doing something about their racist fears.
I think we all already knew this truth, but to see it confirmed is a new feeling of horror.

A 🧵 so well articulated.
An anti-trans stance in athletics is, at its core, a misogynist one. Segregating sports by gender has always been about upholding the myth that men are inherently better, stronger, faster. It’s propaganda, not biology.
I just want to point out that a big reason we have gender segregated sports is because men's egos couldn't handle finishing second to a woman.
