Jimmy Kimmel and other late-night comedians have certainly said things about me that I found offensive, even outrageous.

It never crossed my mind to call up the networks and say, "Hey, get rid of this guy."

Because that's not how America works.

A short 🧵 so everyone can learn that political violence is nothing new in America.

Of the 1,331 Black officials who served during Reconstruction, 158 (10.4%) were subjected to political violence. 1/7

“Kirk & I were on different sides of most political arguments. We were on the same side of the continued possibility of American politics.”

So it’s personal? B/c if you were a Black woman or transgender, Kirk would not imagine you having any role in the future of American politics.

BREAKING: By an apparent 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court halts an injunction that had prevented immigration agents from racially profiling Latinos in central California.

Sotomayor, dissenting, says the decision is "unconscionably irreconcilable with our nation's constitutional guarantees."

public sector employment has historically been a more reliable path to the middle class for Black workers, especially Black women, than the private sector where discrimination is rampant, and this is another important reason why the Right wants to destroy the federal government

Okay. I just came back to this and you aren’t calling these efforts resegregation yet, you absolutely should be

RE Lisa Cook. It’s just so hard to tell why Trump is targeting these people. I guess we will never know what they had in common. A mystery for all time.

Black women are being used as test subjects for the limits of abuse of power. I want people to not ignore this since this always happens and then when the abuse arrives at people's doorstep, they're surprised.

CALL IT OUT NOW.

As Virginia prepares for its next round of elections, harsh new restrictions put in place by Governor Glenn Youngkin in 2023 remain in place.

Bolts reported at the time on the Virginians who cannot vote due to the state's new rules.
The Virginians Who Can’t Vote Because of Glenn Youngkin
People leaving prison automatically regained the right to vote under the previous governor. But Youngkin ended that policy and now decides who gets to cast a ballot.
