UK based, 55°N. What I do for a living is too boring to share, wary about sharing too much of my family life, embarrassed of my nerdy hobbies. He/him.
I haven't been to the train station for a while. Today I noticed that LNER have added sign language to their departure boards. I'm intrigued by the technical aspects, and impressed at the effort to make the service accessible to more people.

You know all those end of year stats that apps like to produce this time of year: what happens to the December stats? Are they rolled into next year, or just ignored forever?

@jamescswanton.bsky.social please forgive me for contacting you directly, but I think that you will be able to answer this.
Which Blu-ray (or DVD) Hammer releases will I be able to find contributions from our mutual friend John Johnston?

This is full of wonderful shots of the North East of 1965, and some fantastic artist's impression of what the area would look like in the year 2000 (complete with monorail). youtu.be/Gn4OJhRWpoQ?...

@boarsgoreswords.bsky.social I wouldn't call that a "pie", maybe a pasty? Although it looks like the UK bakery chain "Greggs" has got the pastry contract from Weyland www.greggs.com/menu?categor...

#AlienEarth : promising. Love the look of it. Can't get over how a load of microscopes and dissection equipment didn't fly off the lab tables when the spaceship crashed 🤔

I've just been reminded by @andy-paciorek.bsky.social of the Kazoo bands ( or Juvenile Jazz Bands) that used to prowl the North East in my youth.
I mainly used to encounter them practicing on a football pitch when I was walking to the swimming pool.

One of the earliest football paintings in the world, Thomas MM Hemy's "Sunderland v. Aston Villa 1895", also titled "A Corner Kick", depicts a match between the two most successful English teams of the decade. The venue is the Newcastle Road ground in Sunderland, and the game finished 4-4.

I've had a soft spot for Crystal Palace since the late 1980s thanks to "I, Ludicrous". I hope John Proctor and Will Hung are enjoying themselves right now.
