In the recent past, discussing America as an imperial power was considered gauche and subject to snide by liberals at least as much as conservatives. That’s surely over as Trump boldly declares ‘we’re going to be taking a tremendous amount of wealth from the ground’ in Venezuela?

We had a dusting of snow this morning which makes town look rather lovely. A total contrast to the constant aggression of the imperial powers.

The US has begun an unprovoked and unjustified war for conquest and oil, as President Trump has himself made clear on several occasions. The Americans also now claim to have abducted a foreign leader in his own country. This imperialist aggression must be condemned.

Reading a book where the historian gives a sympathetic account of Richard Pennant (slave owner), stating 'The Pennants certainly Cherished their slaves'.

The evidence for this? A quotation from Richard Pennant: 'The Hearing a good account of them, and of the cattle, always gives pleasure.' 🙃

An actual quote from the Secretary of State for Business and Trade

Too often people go to university to ‘explore research and knowledge’

Look forward to Wes S saying 'too often people go to hospital to have operations' or Heidi Alexander saying 'too often people go to the station to catch a train'

I fundamentally disagree with the foundational premises of this report. What the committee takes as settled, I very much do not.

Unlike Reform, we’re doing things differently with democracy & inclusivity at the core.

From the launch to the party, conference, structures & yes - even the name! - we’re building it together.

It might feel unfamiliar to you. It’s called democracy.

'Having it all', by the way, consists of things like keeping your child out of poverty, preventing old age pensioners from freezing to death, and allowing disabled people to get the requisite support they need.

But I can see how that might be interpreted as 'having it all'.
When I read stuff like this I often think "How much do I pay in taxes, and how much do I pay in housings costs bills etc" it's private sector rent seekers who need to trim the fat here.

Edward Heath blocked US use of UK bases to defend Israel in 1973.

Harold Wilson resisted US pressure to send troops to Vietnam.

From the ’50s to early 2000s, the UK imposed full arms embargoes on Israel for breaking international law.

We can choose not to be America’s poodle.

France formed a maul off all but 4 of their 12 lineouts. They even formed a maul of kickoff receipt.

7 of them before 47 minutes. All lasting long and making meters.

Took Ireland’s legs before LeBomb came on.
