In the recent past, discussing America as an imperial power was considered gauche and subject to snide by liberals at least as much as conservatives. That’s surely over as Trump boldly declares ‘we’re going to be taking a tremendous amount of wealth from the ground’ in Venezuela?

We had a dusting of snow this morning which makes town look rather lovely. A total contrast to the constant aggression of the imperial powers.

The US has begun an unprovoked and unjustified war for conquest and oil, as President Trump has himself made clear on several occasions. The Americans also now claim to have abducted a foreign leader in his own country. This imperialist aggression must be condemned.

Reading a book where the historian gives a sympathetic account of Richard Pennant (slave owner), stating 'The Pennants certainly Cherished their slaves'.

The evidence for this? A quotation from Richard Pennant: 'The Hearing a good account of them, and of the cattle, always gives pleasure.' 🙃
