You should have a tip tier

🙄

Again, in the context of *this* space. If you can't see why that matters then we've got nothing to discuss
January 15, 2026 at 1:03 AM
That would have required it being a well thought out analysis and not 5500 words of unrelated grievance crowned with the word "porn brained"
January 15, 2026 at 12:56 AM
That would be fine if it was an actual review and not 5500 words of unrelated grievance.
January 15, 2026 at 12:55 AM
The author did not take issue with the review, the rest of us did
January 15, 2026 at 12:53 AM
This is fascinating to me because I couldn't stand the serial format locking me in and had to give it up
January 15, 2026 at 12:49 AM
wracking my brain and coming up with nothing
January 15, 2026 at 12:43 AM
...endo?

FR she agreed to do better so I'm not really sure what the argument is here, perhaps "she shouldn't have had to do that?" 🤷‍♀️

like i’m a paid subscriber and i agree writers should be paid but that doesn’t equal paywall when the outside person just sees transwreck and a single “i didn’t like this book”

if you’re going to orbit gun someone do it in the open

It's also free now so.....

Again, reading the room here is important. I think it's strange to charge for your reviews in THIS space, I trust that you're smart enough to figure out why that might be
January 14, 2026 at 10:35 PM
I don't, it's weird that they're paywalled to begin with
January 14, 2026 at 10:21 PM
Failing to read the room here is a major problem when it comes to this review, glaring issues of the label TRANSWRECKS, the use of a slur, and the complaint that the book is to lesbian (wtf?) aside, this was a wake up call for me regarding one person calling themselves a review in this space 3/3

Working in a niche that only exists on bluesky amidst traditional publishing deciding to pull back on LGBT books. We are not untouchable trad pub cis authors that can weather callous reviews, without pushback this could have been a one hit kill from an influential critic in a very small space 2/?

I did not read the entire essay because it did not really seem to be about the book at all and came across as a grievance manifesto about the results of her own popularity contest

That aside, I have not read the book but I'm leery of anyone that has that sort of smoke for a debut author 1/?
January 14, 2026 at 9:54 PM
That level of animus calls into question the integrity of the review and the intentions of the critic
January 14, 2026 at 9:47 PM
Katie, she called the work of another trans woman porn-brained
