Bring me books, coffee, code and a multitude of games. I’d add women, but there can only be one.

Also wine.

In this 161st long-read on my blog, I seriously consider the hypothesis of the US becoming a hostile power.
I show how everything contributes to this, establishing a link between the domestic scene & the international arena.
The time to de-risk has come.

What's happening in the US right now is scary to watch. It's like an echo of darker times coming alive.

As always, I hope that freedom and liberty will prevail eventually.

I spoke to the Secretary-General of NATO, Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz and Giorgia Meloni.

Together we stand firm in our commitment to uphold the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.

About Greenland. I guess the trade deal with the US is up in the air and tariffs on imported goods to the EU need to be adjusted accordingly. Most likely selected goods and services like before, which don't hurt the EU citizens as much as sweeping tariffs would do.

Good to see NATO presence.

The EU-Mercosur deal sends a strong message.

It says:

Welcome to the world’s biggest market.

The largest free trade area on the planet.

This is the power of partnership and openness.

With all that is happening I am starting to wonder. And then I heard Carney on Xi's views on the latest. It didn't seem like a possibility before, but times they are o changing.

I wonder if the EU and China will become closer allies. Let's face it - they haven't threatened us.

Some days are better and some days suck. I may have unintentionally ended up on Santa's naughty list. To be on the safe side I'm buying some presents for myself.

A few years ago the world seemed almost like a place of enlightenment. Well, not this year. It's been a naked power struggle for resources and the preservation or expansion of power.

When the world is this ugly and basic, how can we stay positive? Through history and literature?

When we keep missing our global emission targets, why do we put so much effort into defining them? Isn't that a very wasteful exercise. Shouldn't we instead focus on short term goals and really focus on them, just to make sure we can make any change at all and then move on to bigger things? Anyone?

Learning SAFE.
I find it ironic—or maybe fitting—that a key element is to lock everyone in a room and not let them out until they have a plan! Even more ironic is the expectation that things will then go according to that plan. If ever there was an oversimplification of planning, this must be it.

Vår demokrati är verkligen prövad just nu. Strunta i USA. När folkvalda kvinnor hotas och hatas så mycket att de känner sig tvingade att avgå under tårar då har vi ett systemhotande problem - eftersom det händer om och om igen.

Make no mistake.

The recent incursions in our skies are part of a pattern of growing threats.

It’s time to call it by its name.
This is hybrid warfare.

Europe must get the capacity to respond and protect our skies.

Work has begun.
