Democracy is good. It requires four elements: earth, water, air, and fire... no, that's not it. I think you get the general idea though. Never could reach the top shelf.

CBS canceled Colbert’s show just THREE DAYS after Colbert called out CBS parent company Paramount for its $16M settlement with Trump – a deal that looks like bribery.

America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons.

Watch and share his message.

This is the actual supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy (Saggitrarius A*), observed by JWST (NIRCam) for over 9 hours.
The flickers you see are solar flares on a mind-boggling scale, bright enough to shine across 26,000 light-years of space.

Let’s be honest. Does anyone think that this president would honour Article Five? Presence of US military & nuclear sharing still has value to Europe, but its deterrent value is significantly reduced & falling. This is reckless, dangerous behaviour by the Trump administration.

I just heard the sad news that the historian of chemistry Bill Brock has died. Bill was a giant in this field, and his massive Fontana History of Chemistry remains a definitive text.
Here's my review of one of Bill's books, which combined scholarship with readability.

Book quote of the day "... democracy is more than a word or even a system; it is a way of life that both trusts human nature and makes demands on it." - Hell and Other Destinations, Albright.

This is also the book quote of the week, and possibly month, since I don't read fast.

President Jimmy Carter leaves a legacy unlike any other.

Ceaseless in his service, unbending in his dignity, and revered for his commitment to our common humanity.

He fought the good fight and kept the faith — and now he has finished his race.

May his memory be an inspiration.
