I tried to make a feed for news and discussions on all things pancreas biology (exocrine and endocrine!). You can post with the hashtags #PancSky #BetaCellSky #EndocrineSky . Let me know if it is useful and how to modify to make it better!

dos Santos et al. provide novel insights into the molecular underpinnings of islet cell dysfunction in #type1diabetes, highlighting pathways that may be leveraged to preserve residual β-cell function and modulate α-cell activity. 🧪

Because science camaraderie is forever: New work on citrullination from the @genanderlab.bsky.social and my good friend Kim! This hits close to home as we had a lot of discussions with Kim about protein translation in development and OPP assays during our PhD time! www.science.org/doi/abs/10.1...
The citrullinating enzyme PADI4 governs progenitor cell proliferation and translation in developing hair follicles
Citrullination, a posttranslational modification, affects progenitor cell states and tissue formation.

Interesting work on sirtuins in regulation of proliferation in the pancreas
isletbiologylab.bsky.social
Wortham et al. identified the protein deacetylase Sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) as a regulator of β-cell proliferation whose inactivation results in controlled β-cell expansion. 🧪

This thread is hilarious. Given the environmental impact of some of these privately-owned LLMs that reason like PhDs that can formulate our email responses one might have to rethink their general use. Maybe something good would be to charge 15 Euro per month for use

Transitions in development – an interview with Jeffrey Farrell

@jeffreyafarrell.bsky.social talks about becoming a group leader, his insights on advocacy for developmental biology and his belief in unifying single-cell biology with classical approaches.

Some journals are claiming that you need to pay big $$ for gold open access to comply with NIH's new public access policy. FYI that is total bs. You can comply by depositing the Accepted Manuscript into PubMed Central on the Date of Publication without embargo. Pass it on.
