Rather than self-fulfilling prophecies (the actual quiz answer), I had a student write self-deprecating prophecies. Now I can't stop thinking about what a self-deprecating prophecy would sound like.

If service takes up 90% of your time, in part b/c male colleagues won’t do it (but someone must) yet doesn’t “count” for anything, what do we expect? Women are still living in the crappy 20th c academy men had built, some of us never even make full for these reasons

This is part of why calls for working scientists to become "better communicators" are outdated at best and actively harmful at worst.
