ok, so this is something I've thought a fair bit about, I've never been a practicing Christian but like, I know the lore

it's literally on a narrative level flashing forward to the death of a person while celebrating their birth and foregrounding them as a baby

it's just obviously morbid!

This update includes information you may find upsetting. Please take care when reading. From today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce trans girls will no longer be able to join Girlguiding. This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community. There will be no immediate changes for current young members, but more information will be shared soon. Most adult roles - including unit helpers, district helpers and administrative support - are already open to all, so we are confident that no volunteers will have to leave the organisation. Girlguiding believes strongly in inclusion, and we will continue to support young people and adults in marginalised groups. Over the next few months, we will explore opportunities to champion this value and actively support young people who need us. We stand in solidarity with trans girls and women.

- Named after Andalusia in Spain #minerals
Twin crystals of andalusite (variety chiastolite) in a grey mica schist. The crystals are beige and look like flowers with four petals. A cut and polished slice. From Bimbowrie, South Australia. Specimen on display in the Natural History Museum, London.

Here is the crinoid Arthroacantha carpenteri with a Platycerid snail attached. These snails are Coprophagous which means they ate fecal matter. The snail would attached to the anal chimney of the crinoid and would feed on the waste.

Bornite is great, but #molybdenite is not copper! I kid (kind of)! A soft, silver, greasy, hexagonal mineral that can look like JiffyPop, foil-wrapped leftovers, or metallic graphite. It can handle high-stress/high-temps, & it's anti-corrosive. Those seem like good qualities here & now!

Silver hexagonal sheets of molybdenite on a brownish-white mineral. From Carnegie Natural History Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. What looks like melted silver candle wax dripped onto a lumpy brown matrix, is molybdenite. Sometimes it looks sad and waxy, which I totally identify with. (If one can identify with a mineral.) From Cranbrook Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Less melted, but still somewhat tired looking silver molybdenite layers which grow increasingly smaller as the number of layers increase.
