Even in 2001 when the indoor smoking ban in restaurants and pubs came into effect in BC people predicted the end of the hospitality business entirely, and it turned out that smoking kept more people away than attracted them.

They cried about their freedoms being removed. They broke the rules & smoked in the washrooms, detectors would go off & they'd be escorted out by authorities upon landing.

My mom worked for Air Canada as a flight attendant in the 1980s & 90s. She tells me stories about how *livid* some people were when the smoking bans on planes came into play. Many were abusive & took it out on staff

I'm struck by how many Chicagoans have seemingly felt compelled to write and share reflections on "this is what it feels like in Chicago right now". We know we're going through something awful together and we want the world to understand it.

Prevention is better than a cure and as it stands, there’s no cure for Covid or Long Covid. And the only prevention from transmission is a well fitted KN95 or better.

ripping FEMA apart and then letting the vultures swoop
When a mile-wide tornado hit St. Louis, the entire back wall of DeAmon White's house was blown off. The third floor of his mother's home was gone.
The next morning, at 8 am, the phone calls started: Would he be interested in selling his home?

Disasters destroyed their homes. Then the real estate ‘vultures’ swooped in.
“We buy homes” companies are procuring disaster-damaged properties for cheap. Survivors say they're taking advantage of tragedy.

I want to see more people advocating for clean air and other virus preventions in schools before I believe people are really serious about education.
Children are breathing in a brain and organ destroying virus in their classrooms.

I take education so seriously. Because. Like.. it used to be illegal for us to read and write. They wanted us to not read and write for a reason. And to see black people advocating for less ways to make sure black and brown children can read and write is crazy.

Seeing an awful lot of people sick with Covid right now.
Many saying “Covid is back”.
It never left. That’s why some of us are still advocating for mitigations.
Every infection is a dice roll with disability.
Wear a mask. Clean the air. Stay home when sick.
