William Lloyd Garrison on empty appeals to tradition:
No amount of homage paid to the past is a sure indication of living virtue. On the contrary, the more profusely it is bestowed, the more clearly it will be seen that it is designed as a cloak to cover moral cowardice or arrant apos-tacy. Nothing is easier, nothing more common, than to honor "Abraham, Isaac and Jacob'; to build and garnish the tombs of the old prophets; to celebrate the deeds of Jesus and his Apostles. Nothing is more difficult, nothing more rare, than to walk in their footsteps and imitate their example; to live, in our day, as they did in theirs, without reputation, hated, despised, persecuted, for righteousness' sake.

It’s important to note that when someone talks about “Meme warfare”, the right wing “warriors” are mostly astroturfed or foreign accounts duping MAGA and pundits who think America politics boils down to their X feed

NEW: A MAGA X account often shared by Senator Mike Lee and House Republicans like Nancy Mace--that often alleges Democrats encourage voting fraud-- is run by a man who not only has never stepped foot in the US, he also illegally donated to an American campaign. / @JSweetLI

Defiant L's and Resist the Mainstream are both run by Rumen Naumovski, who donated $3K to "QAnon candidate" Ron Watkins' 2022
House primary race, before realizing he wasn't allowed to, he said. Naumovski allegedly pays other influencers to promote his content.
Half a dozen Republican lawmakers share
Naumovski's content about American politics that he runs with a Florida company from his home in Macedonia. He explained this year that he's never been to the US on a tourist visa, because he refused to show Covid vaccination.
Naumovski first got involved in American political content around 2016, when North Macedonian teenagers churned out pro-Trump content, and a former Fox News executive hired him to help with social media

It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.

Trump in his RNC speech said “Inflation is a country buster. You can go back to Germany from a hundred years ago.”

He cast himself as that which comes after Weimar.

Yes, everything cannot be mapped onto 1920/30s Germany but when they choose to frame it that way themselves…

Jack Posobiec explicitly says that "Antifa" dates back to the Weimar Republic, explicitly acknowledging that this administration is opposed to those who resisted the arrival of Adolf Hitler in Power.

You can really tell these people are serious about crime because the guy to Sortor’s right committed voter fraud in Pennsylvania

SORTOR: I took this flag from the man that was burning it in the street

TRUMP: Do you know who he is?

SORTOR: Oh yeah

TRUMP: So why don't you give it to Pam. Give it to the attorney general and we'll start prosecutions

But at least they had a good 24 hours of copium, thinking the Pope would take it easy on MAGA:

This is what we need in a pope, particularly after Francis: prudence and reserve. More of this, please! Michael Knowles:

Papa-panicans, so quick to freak out over an innocuous blessing of ice, are uncharacteristically silent when the Pope rebuffs a journalist's plea to criticize President Trump.
classicvirtues.bsky.social
It’s genuinely mind-numbing that people thought they shamed Leo into being quiet about this. He’s the Pope and Tradition is on his side when it comes to the humane treatment of migrants
CatholicSat
Asked about President Trump's decision to send 400 National Guard troops to Chicago, Pope Leo XIV says: "I prefer not to comment about political choices [made] within the United States. Thank you very much."

@emzanotti
HE LEARNED QUICK

Kevin Tierney @CatholicSmark
Man learned his lesson lol @thestinkeye
Every leader I've ever met learns this lesson the hard way. We do not get to say the things we got away with saying as underlings when we assume the responsibility of command and leadership. @nickycantaloupe

He may learn a valuable lesson from this experience. He was never a high-profile figure in the Anglosphere before his election, so he is still new to a lot of this media attention. If he wants to avoid what he sees as unnecessary controversy, the only thing to say is nothing.

People have a hard time seeing Trump as a fascist because of his bumbling idiocy (as if you have to be good at it to truly have fascistic ambitions) but I don’t see how you can hear the things this guy says and does and come away thinking he isn’t a fascist
gingerkap23.bsky.social
Miller oopsie doodled and said the quiet part out loud, talking about DT aka himself having “plenary authority”:

A plenary power or plenary authority is a complete and absolute power to take action on a particular issue, with no limitations

If you’re curious how MAGA will react if evidence comes out proving Trump raped minors, here’s a preview:

Surely people should carry grace. I guess the victim was interested in some money. Rose Ngure
All have ran short of glory!! With repentance all are saved through Jesus Christ Grace!! Praying for pastor Robert and family strength at this difficult time. Also I pray for healing for the girl and her family. Almighty blessings

The 700 Club •
Thank you for sharing such a gracious and compassionate message with us, Rose Ngure. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, yet His grace through Jesus Christ offers redemption and hope. Let's keep praying for Robert Morris, his family, and especially for the victim and her loved ones, that God's healing, justice, and mercy will cover them all. May His grace bring restoration where there is pain and light where there is darkness.

Raymond Freer
I pray for forgiveness and repentance. You are a blessed man and you will return to God's glory.

The woman could have said no, that this is her fought has much has it was her's.
When God forgive,s ,you are a new creature in Christ. You have to forgive if you want forgiven. The women need,s to check and see where she stands with God.

How old was he when he become a pastor?

Pam Ullo
I still will listen to him! He's still a man of God

Hannah Arendt, in ‘The Human Condition’, on the what we lose when we lose the power of the public realm:
The public realm, as the common world, gathers us together and yet prevents our falling over each other. ...
What makes mass society so difficult to bear is not the number of people involved, or at least not primarily, but the fact that the world between them has lost its power to gather them together, to relate and to separate them. The weirdness of this situation resembles a spiritualistic seance where a number of people gathered around a table might suddenly, by some magic trick, see the table vanish from their midst, so that two persons sitting opposite to each other were no longer separated but would be entirely unrelated by anything concrete.

If you’re going to confuse the city of man with the city of God, you’re going to need some grace to save you, so going full Pelagian is definitely a choice

A lot of people who hate Jason Isbell & The Drive By Truckers for their explicit progressive politics love Zach Bryan (Navy Veteran who isn’t explicit about his politics), so I’m sure there will be some backlash. But it may say something about how the ICE stories/images are turning off normies

the more a person includes politics into their life anywhere besides a ballot the more I figure they don't have anything more interesting to do or say

Taylor Swift has entered the “Shakespeare’s religion” debate, and she has landed on the side of Shakespeare as crypto-catholic, highlighting the doctrine of purgatory in Hamlet:
And if you'd never come for me (Come for me)

I might've lingered in purgatory

You wrap around me like a chain (A chain), a

Not surprising. Many such cases of this type of childish and petty reasoning. Even voting is an ego trip for these types

“There’s a lot going on. I don’t know if you know this but there’s literally a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean right now. I think it’s called Puerto Rico.”-Tony Hinchcliffe, Madison Square Garden Trump Rally October 2024

It was just a joke though, guys… relax…

It’s pretty wild that there’s a non zero chance that Trump’s team is showing him AI videos of cities burning down:
"I get a call from the liberal governor, 'Sir, please don't come in. We don't need you.' I said, 'well, unless they're playing false tapes. This looked like World War II. Your place is burning down," Trump said.
