There is not an AI-generated actress that will be put forth for parts, much less cast in them. The goal was not to create that; the goal was to get people to act like this was a real thing that could theoretically win an award. The outrage is the point.

To be clear, Ellie is right; this is functionally the same as that time Uber claimed "well, instead of paying our drivers we'll just create a fleet of self-driving cars." This isn't real. It's a lie meant to make people take the lie seriously, but it's not actually a thing that's meant to do more.

the AI actress thing also just sincerely isn't real. like, I am starting to gather some folks may not fully understand this, but like, insofar as there is any actual thing behind these press releases, what's being described is "someone designed a particular look for a video AI character"

I would go so far as to say that while there may be reasons, as they aren't reversible elements, you have to deal with them as they presently act upon the world rather than wondering overmuch what caused them to be morally broken.
