Jane Goodall’s influence behind bars: The legendary primatologist Jane Goodall, who died last week at 91, helped inspire incarcerated people to learn more about wildlife and the environment by opening Roots & Shoots chapters inside jails in the U.S. and Italy, with some participants going on to launch careers in conservation post-incarceration. In 2015, Bolts' Alex Burness spent a day with her at the county jail in Boulder, Colorado, where she spoke to folks held there about all that people can learn from animals.

Yes, they are. "Each employee of the United States Government or of a District of Columbia public employer furloughed as a result of a covered lapse in appropriations shall be paid for the period of the lapse in appropriations..." 31 USC 1341. It's not even close.

It appears that the federal agents occupying Portland have people embedded with them charged with the task of producing stories presenting the government’s version of events. Ironically, this was the sort of work JD Vance did in Iraq before he decided he was against that war.

Holy hell. DHS just openly stated that its agents use “reasonable suspicion” to make ARRESTS. This is blatantly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court is clear that you need probable cause to arrest someone, as opposed to stop them to ask them a question or two. This is huge b/c…
