Reuters photographer Jonathan Ernst noticed that Bondi flipped open a file during the Senate hearing and he zoomed in.

Inside were her crib notes for attacking the senators.

The GOP now practicing Cliff's Notes Fascism

In other words, under oath Bondi was purely a performance.

I know that AALS had regional hiring conferences this year in contrast to the giant one that used to happen in DC. Did hiring committees actually go to any of them? Did entry level candidates show up? Were there in person screeners like before? Where did they take place? #lawprofs #lawprofhiring

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

Core 1A speech.

With cameras rolling, they’re sniping priests for sport.

They said on-line isn’t real life, and Bluesky is a niche social media site.

But here is @akalhan.bsky.social getting “Kavanaugh Stops” into the Boston Globe!

With a pic of Kav looking a little petulant too (but then when doesn’t he?).

Glad to see this is sticking to him.
Critics of Trump’s immigration crackdown are using the term ‘Kavanaugh stop.’ Here’s what it means. - The Boston Globe
The phrase, is "a window into where [the administration] can go next," some advocates say.

Good reporting on the South Shore raid from South Side weekly here.

Confirms one thing I was told but didn't put in my own piece because I didn't have a second source and it seemed too insane: border agents segregated arrested residents by race

Federal Agents Storm South Shore Building, Detaining Families and Children
Families were woken by flashbangs and helicopters as hundreds of federal agents raided their homes. Days later, neighbors are still searching for the missing.

But, if this is more LLM slop, I have no interest. But the NotebookLM/Zotero bridge is the one product I have been looking for, since my Zotero collection has grown enormous and unwieldly. I also wanted to test if NotebookLM could reorganize my collection.
coreyryung.bsky.social
I'm not sure if the Zotero/NotebookLM connection will pan out, but for works that I've read, but didn't highlight or annotate, I was hoping NotebookLM might provide outlines for me to know if I need to reread it. Right now, they store PDFs in a way that are incompatiable with each other.
coreyryung.bsky.social
Does it involve a bridge between Zotero and NotebookLM? Because, honestly, I am interested in that use case (and am generally hostile to other LLM research approaches). NotebookLM avoids the GIGO problem and I am interested in its ability to summarize long tests that I have stored in Zotero.

Tragic news from Canada where the Canadian Supreme Court has gone from the official dress on the left to the one on the right
Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in bright red wooly gowns, with a beige trim. It looks sort of like a Santa robe The Canadian Supreme court. Everyone is dressed in black gowns with a bright white kravat, and two thin red vertical lines on the side of the robe

As one of the few liberals who has openly advocated for greater federalism in some contexts (primarily criminal justice), I salute the great, sovereign state of Illinois.

I think that's where the sharp polarization started. But, is it still true? Do people still listen to talk radio at the same level as when Limbaugh was alive? (Honest question - I have no idea what the listening numbers are)

ICE is hog tying protesters in Portland and removing them on Dollies.

This is dangerous and could cause serious injury.

The Department of Homeland Security thinks it’s a joke.

They’ve shared this video with the tagline “Refuse to Walk? We’ll give you a ride”.

Stay strong Portland.

Look. Invading our own country is about as straightforward a case as you can have for impeachment. The GOP abandoning the Constitution is kind of the only story there is and it gets no coverage.

It is. But, being surrounded by Trump country, I barely notice anymore. Although not that insightful, "alternate facts" and "cult" are really the best terms to describe what is happening, IMHO.

IMHO, closed information bubble. I'm guessing they almost universally believe Trump is protecting freedom and reports otherwise are fake news. Without a critical mass of non-Trumpists, their alternate reality is unchecked. Trumpists I meet typically deny Trump is doing the awful things he is doing.
