I wrote this a year ago and it hit a nerve. It is still relevant today:

Each time I have sat down to write something I am bothered by this recurring phrase that I cannot get out of my head. So, this week I am going to just say it out loud: we are on our own. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/we-a...

Not only does this intentionally violate the First Amendment to the US Constitution, it’s vile to watch mean-spirited, selfish ghouls who starve the poor and kidnap people for their skin color sanctimoniously pretending they follow any of the teachings of Jesus.

If the Epstein files have proven anything, it’s that the justice system isn’t broken; it’s working exactly as it was built to do: to shield the rich and powerful from accountability while victims are buried, ignored, or silenced.

The concentration of wealth in the hands of an elite few isn't just bad for our economy. It's corrosive to our democracy.

When the wealthy and well-connected control our political system, the American people don't have a voice.

The result is demagoguery and corruption.

This isn’t about who Epstein was. It’s about how investigations are quietly contained.👇

Those who benefit from housekeepers, clerks, waiters, and other members of this invisible workforce may be enjoying a holiday break and time off with family, but the same does not hold true for the workers who make that possible.
They Clean After Holiday Shoppers. But They Don't Get to Celebrate with Their Families.
“In my culture, Christmas Eve is our day to celebrate. ... And I’m going to work like it’s a regular day. It’s hard on the kids.”

Murrow warned us about this a long time ago, that TV would trade truth for spectacle, analysis for noise, and civic duty for profit. Putting unvetted, attention seeking talkers on air proves his point. TV chose ratings over responsible reporting. It’s the business model.

If they can drive people out of rural spaces, or make them so desperate that they’ll accept any job at any pay rate, they can bring in large corporate farms and there is no one to protest the environmental impacts or force them to pay their fair share in taxes.

Pizza is a good metaphor for religion. The kind you grew up with is the only real kind and the bastards who like it different from you are all going to hell.

But it's all the same ingredients*.

*Except for those infidels that put the sauce on top. You and your stupid casserole will burn forever.

Fun fact about Nigeria: they recently shut down a lot of car battery recycling outfits to conduct tests.

Tests to study the large amount of lead being let off by these companies, poisoning the local populations.

These companies? US automakers that refuse to start certification programs.
