Today is the day!!! Existential Politics is out in the world!

Read about why we’re doing climate policy wrong (too focused on measuring emissions) & what we should do instead (focus on $$ to constrain fossil asset owners & expand green asset owners). Just in time for #COP30.

🚨 The 7th Board meeting of the Fund for Responding to #LossAndDamage starts tomorrow in Manila.

But the Fund is on life support: $399M paid in - less than 0.1% of the hundreds of billions needed.

And key promises on access for communities and all climate-vulnerable countries not being met.

🚨 ALERT🚨 DC Police (MPD) has announced that they will start collaborating with ICE at traffic checkpoints. What does this mean 👉🏽
ALERT
DC Police (MPD) has announced that they will start collaborating with ICE at traffic checkpoints
Aug 14 onwards

What does this mean?
- MPD has started to set up traffic checkpoints with federal agencies (like ICE) to stop people
- During the traffic stop they can ask about a person’s immigration status
- MPD can also share immigration status information of a person stopped at a checkpoint with ICE so that ICE can come and detain them
- Warning: ICE may be present at MPD precincts in an attempt to take custody of a person after release

Important to understand:
- The Trump administration does not care about the law. Even if you do everything right, they can detain you.
- Still, it is important to know your rights, b/c of potential legal recourse after MPD or federal agents violate them

Call for active enforcement, text for sightings Remember you have the right to:
- Remain silent
- Refuse to sign documents
- Refuse to consent to a search
- Film the police in public
- Ask if you are being detained or if you free to go

Remember these best practices:
- Do not carry false documents
- Make sure a trusted friend/relative knows your correct A-Number and country of birth
- Make sure a trusted friend/relative has a copy of your important documents

The #ICJ delivered a historic Advisory Opinion on #ClimateChange that cuts through decades of delay, denial, & legal ambiguity. It did so with moral & legal clarity that leaves no doubt: states must act to prevent climate harm or be held legally responsible.
