A East Pacific Red Octopus (Octopus rubescens) sitting in a shallow plastic container that is held by a person. It looks like it was just collected while tide pooling. The octopus is sort of sitting up, so it has its head and half of its mantle out of the water, with its arms mostly in the water. It has two rows of suckers. The octopus is dark red, with some orange at the ends and undersides of its arms. The parts out of the water look shiny. The background is out of focus, but you can see water, rocks and pink/purple sea plants.

I joked about webtoon's censorship apparatus basically just counting red pixels to see what counts as violence, and their analysis literally just pointed out all the usage of a blood splatter brush and any environmental use of the color red.

I miss my agemate cousin, a LOT, like I should be planning to host him and his husband at our new place in a better world, but he’s on friendly terms with the family and I can’t risk my mother leaning on him to get information on me. :/ I speak to my brother & my father, that’s it.

As someone who has gone no-contact with basically my entire family (maternal side), I can tell you: politics are not the core of it. It exacerbated the issues and made them worse, yes, but the actual issue was the cruelty I experienced from my mother.

As a therapist, I am so tired of trend pieces focusing on the minority of adult child/parent estrangements that don't involve unambiguous abuse, neglect, or addiction. Nearly no one goes no-contact with their functional, nonabusive parents over political differences or nebulous "poor boundaries."

Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.
