Growing up noticing how many people around me downright refused to read for their own enjoyment makes it depressingly clear how the average person views AI generated NPC dialogue. It’s easy to clap and bark like a seal when you’ve never once experienced the joy of reading a story
Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.
But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.

The existence of ai has strangely really helped with my self confidence because no matter how much I suck at what I do, at least I’m actually doing it and putting in effort instead of being a braindead lazy loser generating garbage stolen from other people’s hard work

I'm waiting for Twitter to call Silksong Woke because all the major character archetypes so far are female. The protag, blacksmith, shopkeeper, master of the mapmaker, etc. Every single one of them use her pronouns and/or feminine descriptors. It's so refreshing, especially from an all male dev team
