Ah, we're seeing this from different POVs. I meant the colors themselves, the pinks and yellows of the sunset seeming to push the blues away. It's lovely in photography but usually unnatural-looking in paintings, like one of those orange-and-blue movie posters.

As I work on the latest orders, here's a couple more shots of Mechfall to really show off how I did "upside down" highlighting.

A Grendel BattleMech mounted upside-down with a long stem to its base. This is the bottom of the piece, showing how all the edges facing the ground have been painted white, fading upwards along the miniature through yellow, orange, and dull red.

A view of the same Grendel from the top of the miniature. Very little of the heat gradient can be seen, leaving mostly just the gray and blue camouflage pattern. The bright blue-white of the simulated laser blast is also clearly visible on the right-arm cannon muzzle and right knee, along with the duller blue of the secondary lasers.
