Theatergoing crowds aren’t rowdy enough. We can’t have shows like Hadestown and expect audiences not to shout along at call and response parts or raise their cups.

Honestly, yes. My friends and acquaintances in FTM/transmasc spaces use this term a lot. It’s mutually agreed upon and useful shorthand for “the trauma of having made ourselves small for decades and the seemingly insurmountable challenge of breaking those harmful habits”.
My spicy socialization take is that we mostly use the phrase "female socialization" to refer to raising someone to be a people-pleaser so they don't get hit, and as people constantly at risk of getting hit, trans femmes receive it as much as anyone else
“Male Socialization” of trans femmes isn’t a real thing. Invoking it just shows you’re a bozo trying to misgender us.

Trans people were never really socialized as our AGAB. At best, we were pressured to mimic norms that gave us dysphoria.

It’s an obvious TERF / Blanchardist dog whistle. Do better.

Alright best matzoh ball soup I’ve made to date. Proud on myself for choosing to add cayenne as well as my usual sweet paprika to the broth. The extra cardamom pods were a good move, too.

Had the delightful experience of reading FEVER while snowed in last year. Highly recommend that as the preferred reading circumstances for that book.

My tinfoil hat theory is that the Hayes Code and the oppressive deluge of USAmerican entertainment into other countries are to blame.

The Hayes Code, though long defunct, trained us in the States to expect a very specific kind of morality of the media we interact with.
I just don't really think about my work in terms of what I owe the world, or the reader. I think in terms of what I want to express, and I don't really think about the reader much at all.
Lots and lots of words about what fiction is for, and what writing should be, and honestly? Sure, fine, the world you want to see. Well, I'm writing to process the world I'm in.

Getting home at 6 instead of 7:30 is such a game changer. I was able to actually cook dinner in addition to taking care of Garrus. It serves me right for not keeping healthy work/home boundaries like I tell my students. Ah, woe.

Hmm. Maybe only half a star anise for tomorrow’s tea spice blend. A whole star overshadows the cloves and cardamom a bit for my taste.

Children’s choir update: a child in a yellow belt and gi approached me and asked my name and then two follow up questions regarding the piercing status of my ears. I answered and they said, “Thanks!” and ran to the risers for practice. Kids are weird lol.

The children’s choir has realized that they’re singing a song about an historical battle. “IS THIS REAL?? A real BATTLE? From a WAR?” - the wee babes

Oh, assistive reader. How cute of you to pronounce “M. St. Aubert” as “Em Street Aubert”.

Genuinely don’t know what I’d do without friends to have deep discussions about art with.

(That’s a lie. I’d probably write a lot of essays.)

DAMMIT. Boiled water for tea twice only to forget that I’d boiled it.

Okay sure. I promised the hat a year ago. I might as well deliver for the holidays.

lol my doctors’ office is collectively losing its mind today. GP flustered. RN wholly discombobulated. Holiday adjacent times sure are hard for even decently staffed practices. I hope everyone working today gets to put their feet up soon.

Part of the work I’m doing with my SLP is the SPEAK OUT! training. It was designed for people with Parkinson’s, but it’s great for developing my chest voice as I continue to build access to the F2-A2 range.

But it requires speaking with “intent” and not dropping off on syllables. Which I do a lot.

Treated garrus to a doggo cookie today since he was brave while he got his nails trimmed. It was decorated to look like a hedgehog; garrus was a fan.

Despite _still_ having a gnarly crick in my neck, I was able to do my arms, chest, and back routine. I love lifting so much. It really centers and calms me. It’s nice getting back into the routine. Just need to remind myself that I need to do it a little bit at a time and not all at once.

Oh no Steel Frontiers looks exactly like what I want from Horizon. It also looks exactly like the kind of game that would lend itself to the educational Lets Plays I want to do for my students.

Started reading a fun book tonight. And am eating a steaming hot bowl of lentil soup after shoveling snow.
For all the trans people out there, if you like, please share something good that’s going on in your life, no matter how big or small.

I’m sure we could all use some good news to offset all the bad.

How about we start Trans Joy Tuesday! 🏳️‍⚧️
