*That Sinking Feeling*
I remember Kate Winslet
in finery strolling the decks. The rim of her hat lifting in the wicked
freezing night.
A cruel constellation appeared.
She stopped to drop a token into the tattered
violin case.
It’s an old story:
First class, steerage
and how it all goes down.

I hope you’re having a good day. I hope you find time to make something beautiful. I hope you are kind to yourself and to at least one other being. I hope Life gives you a delightful surprise that warms your heart and renews your spirit.

It’s winter and a storm is raging. Remember, birds collect the blowdown - the broken pieces, dead wood, what’s been ripped away- picking up the pieces, they weave them together to create space for something new to come into being. Millions of us using life force for good.

The Eagle can teach us how to take a bird’s eye view. Observing. Rising above it. Having patience, poise, until with razor-sharp precision, it’s time to act.

Salmon can teach us a lot about knowing when to go with the flow and when to go against the stream as if future lives depended on it.

Even though most of us will probably never lead the charge, we all have a vital role to play in this battle before us.

Do not look back,
No one knows how the world ever began.
Do not fear the future,
Nothing lasts forever.
If you dwell on the past or future,
You will miss the moment.

Nature can tell us a lot about timing and gestation. About keeping things on the down low until conditions are right for something new to emerge. What embryonic idea is calling to be born through you?

When it’s time to create (bring something new into the world) even the solitary Heron builds its nest in community, called a heronry. Working together creates mutual support and protection from predators.

Birds don’t have permanent leaders. One bird sets off in a direction, and other birds follow. Later, the lead bird drops back and another bird takes the lead for a turn. Sometimes a bird will break from the flock and go where it’s instincts tell it. No bird ever HAS TO follow the lead bird.
