tl;dr: GenAI and game design concepts traditionally referred to as "AI" (enemy behaviors, pathfinding, etc.) are not the same thing, and I'm on my knees begging people to learn the difference, lest we see more bullshit claims like what The Escapist put out re: Blue Prince.

No 🤷 I will keep refusing to give my money to devs who use genAI at all in any part of development. It will suck, and it means I will have to go without games that I'm really looking forward to, but I won't sacrifice my morals just because "everyone else is doing it."

Larian's horrible hirring process is an open secret in the industry – insane amounts of unpaid work in "writing tests", excessive numbers of interviews, months and months of back and forth, etc. Everyone in games narrative circles has heard the stories at this point, probably from multiple people.
I know this because they tried to recruit me and I strongly considered it but they’re also a “do an unpaid writing test where you have to also make it playable” company so that’s not something I vibe with

Any studio head that says they are “not looking to trim down team size” by using AI is simply lying. There is no reason to use it otherwise— it doesn’t work well, it doesn’t serve the creative process, it is going to be more expensive in the long run.
