Today is a day when arts degrees are worthless, but the product of those degrees is so valuable it would kill an entire industry if they were made to pay for it.

Shouldn’t be great news because it shouldn’t have happened at all, but this IS GREAT NEWS.

GREAT NEWS from Leander ISD. To Kill a Mockingbird, House on Mango St, and Narrative of Life of Frederick Douglass will be returned to classrooms after a massive outcry. Thanks to everyone who spoke up!!!

From an email to teachers today:
*An important update regarding the books that
were previously paused from curriculum use as a
result of concerns around Senate Bill 12.
Thirty-six of the forty books are being reinstated
to the secondary curriculum book list, with
revisions made to the curriculum to ensure TEKS
alignment and compliance with SB 12. Four
titles, Stamped, Melissa (George), Gracefully
Grayson, and The 57 Bus, will remain paused for
additional review of curriculum alignment. Please
note that all books, including these four, should
remain available, or be returned if removed, to
classroom libraries for individual student choice
reading.

Hillsborough’s Comms team is working extra hard to make it sound like students weren’t impacted by the review.

It’s not done.

Also, it’s dishonest to say that the law requires these books to be pulled from students while under review. That’s a district decision.

Report: Hillsborough 2nd in the U.S. for books pulled from school libraries
The report found that Hillsborough County Public Schools removed 608 books from their shelves.

Donald Trump is calling for the jailing of his political opponents in Chicago. His DOJ lackeys have already indicted a NJ Congresswoman for conducting ICE facility oversight and James Comey. John Bolton's house was raided.

We must treat these latest threats seriously and all stand up against them.

What a stellar selection! I have read three of the five and each of them tugged at my heart. Love, love, love those books. Hannah, Ibi, & Amber are changing the game and forcing us to have convo about what is considered “good” literature. I’m here for this year’s #NationalBookAwards finalists

I have high expectations for those 5 authors, and they always deliver. They are all winners

I'm going to launch a Latine romance imprint, focusing mostly on queer stories, but also special straight ones.

It will be called NEKISSOH—

—Nahuatl for "desirable" or "desired."

Among our publications will be the queer historical romances I'm writing as Aeron Zaldívar.

More details soon!

I wanted to say I have been in healthcare for 35 years. I don't think many understand how unaffordable it is now, since the BBB.The rates are simply insane for renewals, and I do a lot of highly compensated EEs They are dismantling the ACA. I told a pharmacy CEO this 2 weeks ago. He affirmed today.
