Carmilla ★ Interview with the Vampire ★ The Northman
Photograph of statues in a cemetary, a woman lying with her eyes closed, head resting in another woman's lap. The sitting woman kisses the forehead of the one who is laying. Text in the foreground reads "There is a danger in empathising too much with a creature whose motives are beyond your comprehension"

I was just pondering this problem the other day-- even as a cis-woman, TDEE can be such a mystery. I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it is for trans women! I hope you're able to find someone helpful

Harrowfield.

Quiet folk horror in the Marches. Memories of summer to be enjoyed in the autumn.

mybook.to/Harrowfield
Wrap of novel Harrowfield. Front cover shows tree overlooking two standing stones in a dark field. The back, a larger stone in the corner, 'looking' towards the tree. In the sky, fly two ravens. Colours are all shades of green.

Blurb:
Harrowfield is a tiny village in the Marches, that wild strip of borderland between England and Wales. On the edge of this village lies another field, the Harrow Field, the one from which the settlement takes its name. At its entrance stands the Mother Stone, guarding her Children, the two smaller monoliths at the top of the field. This is the ancient site of the Harrowing.

When Derwenna Parry’s brother goes missing whilst surveying farmland, she and his daughters head to the village to track him down. Midsummer approaches and, even though they find him unharmed, they become caught up in strange events which lead them to the Harrowing. An ancient act of penance … or sacrificial revenge?

Bianca in comparison to her werewolf self

Notes are scattered around which say:

Her hair and fur is naturally black but she bleaches often so she has blonde tips on her wolf

Wolf is between 8-10 ft depending on slouch but bianca is 5'6

Wolf has blunt back claws and webbed front dabloons and she has stretchy skin all over like a cat

Hair is luscious in both wolf and human form

And lastly, she has mauled and killed 3 people on accident

I really like Morningwitch for button-up shirts but they are $50 each so🫠

What's really getting me right now is footwear. Enough with the clown shoes!

I needed to buy some business casual stuff for a work conference recently and wanted to jump off a cliff after the experience. Getting the right fit at the right price is a struggle

It's so extra right? WHO is drinking out of this? I would, however, use it obnoxiously for many other things

When I'm making the big bucks from writing, I will treat myself to a giant ice cream sundae in this
Screenshot of a product page with Death & Co of an awkwardly shaped cocktail mug-- a viking ship priced at $140 (yikes)

I have:
A novella HOW TO SEE DEER set in Occupy Alcatraz/Vietnam War/The Indian Relocation Act

A Dust Bowl saga inspired by my Choctaw-Irish family

A newly released MARYNEAL 1962

I'm drawn to these periods b/c it's part of my history & so much of it isn't taught in schools.

Tell me about your work more grounded in the historical. What drew you to that setting? What things did you learn? #WritingPrompt

I'm stumbling late into October with a pumpkin stout and pairing my works with some Halloween icons. Which is your fave?

🧙‍♀️ books2read.com/thecradleofe...
⚰️ books2read.com/TheFealtyofM...
A black cat background with white text that reads “your favorite halloween icon + the book you should read” A black cat background with text overlaid that says “Witches” below right aligned in the blue cover for The Cradle of Eternal Night with two women back to back. In the bottom left is a white line sketch of a witch on a broom. The Left aligned text reads “women’s wrongs” “grief, and perseverance" and “horror and romance” A black cat background with text overlaid that says “Vampires” below right aligned in the red, and pink cover of The Fealty Of Monsters, the art makes it look like embossed metal. In the bottom left is the white line art of a vampire. The text reads “political intrigue” “queer and high heat” and “for the gothic girlies”

Just stumbled across this book, which is open access! I haven't read too much of it yet but it seems well written and researched so far. It's no "The Viking Way" (Price, 2002) but it IS free and there's definite overlap

Book cover depicting a photograph of a shadowed woman in profile holding an iron staff up in front of her. The title is "The Norse Sorceress" with the subtitle "Mind and Materiality in the Viking World" edited by Leszek Gardela, Sophie Bonding, and Peter Pentz
