$I’m still awake. Hardy shifts his head and opens his eyes. They shine in the fracked moonlight. I pull my thick blanket up to my chin, my pulse thumping with a wild excitement in my ears. The angle of his head changes. Can he hear my heart? Can he taste the way my fear floats into the air? When I was a child, I was scared of the monsters hiding in the shadows of the room. Dad used to come in and chase away those dark unknowns. The monsters weren’t real then, but what am I supposed to do now that there is one, not sleeping, beside me?$

I think it depends on the project. Most people (fictional and otherwise) masks themselves in some fashion. From code switching to protecting their identity. So it makes sense to reflect that in my stories.

Thorton in my Golden Age of Hollywood does! She's was a strong woman from the circus but left to be a stuntman for the big screen. Many times she's disguised as a man or wears masks to hide that she's not the lead actor. Otherwise, she's her wonderful, authentic self.

My hope is that it would reflect my continued growth as an artist. I'd love my stories to feel authentic and rich in character and world building long after I'm gone and I represented the eras and people I wrote about with honor and dignity. And I hope that my books are still loved.

Trick- his parents are Provos & his mom Jewish. So Trick's Belfast upbringing was full of conflicts internally & socially. He likes boring/predictable.

Trick- a bit of a pushover & resigned. He's generous & looks for the best in people. Avoids conflict as much as possible. At times impulsive but quick to apologize.

Thorton- short tempered & stubborn. She is sympathetic but suffers no fools. Hard working & very sex positive. 😏
