@shanedarcy.bsky.social UN commissions & rapporteurs on Palestine have anti-Israel bias. Other countries' forces have caused civilian deaths in war but they're not accused of genocide, e.g. Western air strikes aimed at ISIS. So it's the word "genocide" that is being hollowed out.

@jdportes.bsky.social If the IDF op in Gaza was genocide then Allied bombing of Nazi Germany would've been genocide. Hamas is the Gazan govt & so has duty of care to Gazan civilians. Hamas hides behind civilians. If Hamas stopped fighting then the war would be over.

What's the evidence of war crimes @martinsandbu.ft.com claims the UN has? Israel did not start the Gaza war. So the Gaza war is not like the one in Ukraine. Germany, Italy, Hungary & some other EU states won't vote for sanctions against Israel. Europe still needs the US.

One can only hope FFG do not see progression of the OTB as ‘just an election promise’. If we Ireland (as our wonderful @president.ie does) truly believe that Israel must be sanctioned in order to stop their genocide of Palestinians, then this bill or a stronger one, must be enacted quickly.
