He sat through a whole hearing before HHJ realised he was there because of some hilarious admin error. “I HAVENT EVEN BEEN INTERVIEWED?! I DONT KNOW WHY I AM HERE?!” he bellowed as he paced around and looked out of the window in what was presumably an open prison as it had big windows. Poor guy.

Chaos in the Crown Court today as two unrepresented defendants with the exact same name appeared in a hearing in a large multihanded case… one over a link from prison and one in the dock from bail. No one knows how the random same-named man was linked in to us from his prison but he was NOT happy.

The actress and singer, 43, who has appeared in Downton Abbey and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, on her reasons for running
Growing up, I always enjoyed team sports, but anything competition-based, forget it.
Swimming galas were always the worst, I would shy away from any sort of attention on me in a sports capacity. Performing and singing were always more my strengths.
When I was in Emmerdale and coming up to 20, I used to run.
Lots of the cast supported leukaemia charities, so I ran with them at the Great North Run twice.
But I didn't train that much, so found it impossibly hard; both times I came over the finish line crying, thinking I'll never do anything like that again.
I did feol extremely fit when I used to perform in West End shows. We did eight performances a week so l was also exhausted. Sadly, I've never played a role where I needed to be super athletic, although I've always fancied a part where I was forced to get really fit to learn kickboxing or some skill like that for the character.
When my mum passed away two years ago, it inspired me to run again. Mum was diagnosed with a glioblastoma [the most aggressive type of cancer, which starts in the brain] in July 2023 and died in the October. Before she passed, I remember her saying that someone like me should help spread the word about brain tumours and raise funds for The Brain Tumour Charity.
That became my focus to deal with
my grief and the trauma of losing Mum.
It was after sharing a bottle of wine with a friend that I thought, I've got to get fit. I'd recorded a song for The Brain Tumour Charity last year, but decided to commit to a race and step outside my comfort zone.
I've signed up for this year's Royal Parks
Half. I've been training since the spring, doing a 10K each week along
Training for a run in her mum's memory and raising money for
with three shorter runs.
I've increased my
The Brain Tumour Charity
distances as the big
day gets closer. And when life doesn't get in the way…

Does your pet look good in a horsehair wig? Do they deserve to be seen and admired by thousands? Why not dress them up as a lawyer and submit their photo for inclusion in this year’s Law Paw Calendar (www.lawpawcalendar.com)? All proceeds will go to @savechildrenuk.bsky.social

I don’t know anything dedicated specifically to that statute I’m afraid! I know schools have safer Internet training packages and some barristers will do school visits

This is a grim but powerful watch on the death of a young Ugandan woman lured to Dubai on false pretences, and the shaming power of the internet (I'd not heard of the #dubaiportapotty hashtag before, just grim). The first BBC film my other half has executive produced.

9/11 changed everything. It took my school friends to war. It changed the course of my life. It seems inconceivable that it is so long ago now that when baby lawyers come to shadow me in court, they weren’t even alive when it happened.
