Kinda wondering at what point disabled people get to rightfully be seen as the canaries in the coal mine for anticipating what’s currently being done/has been done to our healthcare system and public health apparatus. Because we’ve been warning folks for decades, and yet…

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Taghreed. Taghreed is a 44 year old mother of Menna, 13. Menna has cerebral palsy and needs a surgery to lengthen the tendon in her leg so she can hopefully be able to walk. She hasn’t been able to get that and is now struggling to survive.

we, in fact, would not choose to be isolated. how hard is it to think of disabled people as actual human beings???
The idea that disabled and immunocompromised and chronically ill people have chosen this isolation and not had it fucking forced on us by a hateful and cruel society is absolutely fucking violent.

“The cycle is vicious: Disability often leads to homelessness, and homelessness can lead to disability.”

Disability & homelessness … two minority groups you can join at ANY time and yet the vast majority of people see them as personal failings that could “never happen to them”.

Eugenics of the disabled and chronic illness community continues at full pace.

Especially because medical offices and hospitals and medical centers and doctors and nurses refuse to mask.

Preventing at risk folks the safety mitigation measures of telemedicine is intentional.
Medicare will stop covering telehealth starting April 1. This will be particularly hard on seniors who lack reliable transportation; people with immune challenges; and all patients in rural areas with limited access to healthcare providers.

There are a lot of important skills sets we will need in the coming months/years, but one of the most important will be generative conflict. As the conditions get worse, we will see more conflict and being able to navigate it well, without loosing each other, will be invaluable.
