This comic is a sort of kind of sequel to this ancient comic from waaaay back on Twitter.

I have noticed that the people who do this tend to be the same people who mistake FRIENDLINESS for FRIENDSHIP. Having a few positive interactions with someone doesn't make you friends with them. That requires time, effort, care, and mutual respect. If a friendship is a status symbol, it's not real.

Some people just collect friends like they're building a brand identity. It's not really about you, it's about how you make them look. Collecting cool people and being cool are interchangeable to them. It's really stupid and shallow and it's hard to believe that people do this but they do.
