Most tragic irony about the Avatar movies is for many people its CGI alien planet may be closest we ever get to experience a rainforest or scuba dive a coral reef, untainted & teeming with life. Last time I dived a reef in Florida, I swam with a ray & hammerheads then surfaced next to a floating TV.

Just turned the final page on the new Southern Reach novel by @jeffvandermeer.bsky.social. Pivoting between being devastated that there’s none left, and being grateful to have spent more time in that world.
