Going after OSS projects that are openly governed isn't going to do what you want it to. Vercel makes its money from its hosting platform and paid products. OSS is not a paid product and while contributes goodwill doesn't directly impact the bottomline. And these project's reach well exceed Vercel.
fuck vercel, fuck Next.js, fuck Svelte, fuck Turborepo, fuck SWR, fuck SWC

Posing with the architect of a genocide for sales leads is an insane and deeply immoral stance

these projects cannot separate themselves from the CEO of the company who funds them

1. Islamic Republic of Iran officials are forcing Iranians to give false testimony against Baha’i people.

The Baha’i, a religious minority in Iran, have long faced persecution at the hands of the regime.

In 1991, Ayatollah Khamenei signed a confidential memo known as “The Baha’i Question.”

Iranian freedom fighters Hossein and Hassan Ronaghi have been kidnapped and are being held by the Islamic regime as it cracks down.

Hassan was kidnapped last week, and Hossein was kidnapped yesterday.

The health of their parents, who have already been through years of hell, is suffering greatly.

Islamic Republic’s news channels have made an AI-generated before-and-after video of Tel Aviv being destroyed. Some non-Iranian “special” individuals are taking that as news and sharing it.

This is a prison where most of the people detained during the protests are held. It’s by all means a political prison. Holding political prisoners in times of war and in such poor conditions should be a crime.
Israeli forces struck the gate of the infamous Evin prison in Tehran, Iran.

War is never something to be cheered for.
There are certain realities of war, and sometimes war is necessary, but anyone who openly cheers their country being bombed — which inevitably comes with civilian casualties — is a traitor.

War is never exciting or joyous.

Trump’s “everyone should evacuate Tehran immediately” line is a sadistic version of narcissistic supply - wanting drama, and specifically, drama in which others suffer mentally or physically.

Iranian oppositionists are angry at their regime. "But they in no way welcomed the Israeli strikes on their country. They worried about their own safety—and also about societal collapse and the destruction of Iran’s infrastructure," @arash_tehran writes:

Sometimes the way Americans see everything from their own tainted glass and go so far in self loathing to use such a slippery slope argument for defending something they do not understand at all, bewilderes me. When will they learn that the world doesn't revolve around them and their insecurities?

Even while the Israeli military is bombing, the Islamic Republic of Iran has the time and energy to terrorize Iranians.

Here, intelligence officers dressed in plainclothes terrorize the family of one of the Iranians killed during the Women, Life, Freedom uprisings.

Historically, national humiliations like this one, WW 2 and 1 occupation and famine and the Russo-Iranian wars have always left a deep scar on generations of Iranians. Out of those humiliations competing factions with different ideologies came out that saw each other as traitors and enemies.
If the mullah regime survives this, it may be geopolitically weakened, but it will have domestically strengthened. And those who oppose it will have to rebuild opposition against it, possibly from scratch.

I'm not happy about what is happening at all. Don't get me wrong. This is devastating. We're at war and I wouldn't be the one siding with Israel of all countries in a million years. But that doesn't mean if you hate Israel, Islamic Republic is suddenly a saint. People need to make distinctions.

Some people have funny reactions when you tell them some facts. They quickly want to drag it into an argument of what's right an what's not conveniently ignoring the experiences of the person who knows what they're talking about and going off in a slippery slope of whataboutism.

The same propaganda outlet that kept on broadcasting lies about shutting down Israeli F35s, supposed thousands of casualties in Haifa and Tel Aviv, kept pushing "we're victorious" propaganda and refused to inform people that district 3 was targeted by IDF is now burning. At least parts of it.
IRIB is nothing more than a propaganda outlet. There's no journalism or truth to be found there. I'm not the one to decide who deserves to die, I don't wish death for my worst enemy. But there's a price to pay for 50 years of broadcasting outright lies.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has released these casualty figures: 224 dead, 1,277 wounded.

Note the discrepancy between this death toll and the numbers published by a prominent human rights organization.

Islamic Republic says 224 dead, the prominent human rights organization says 406.
1. The Islamic Republic of Iran is not updating casualty figures, likely because it wants to appear as dominating Israel, but the organization Human Rights Activists in Iran, which has long kept track of casualty counts in Iran, says at least 406 people have been killed and another 654 injured.

I understand I.R. has left us no sympathy or legitimacy. It's not shocking to see the reactions I'm seeing. As I'm sure any Iranian will tell you, the regime does not represent the people. Nevertheless, I think it's still important to have a sense of responsibility.

It is truly horrific what can happen if a nation does not have the ability to exercise agency over its own faith. Liberal democracy and rule of law should never be taken for granted.

@derparrot.bsky.social I know this isn't a pleasing thing for you to hear but should Israel actually attempt to dismantle the state, Europe should stop it. I want to remind you a refugee crisis from a country with 90m people will make Syrian refugee crisis look like nothing.
