Baldur's Gate 3 hits differently when you play it in tactician mode, but I mean that in a good way though! It really forces you to look at every situation carefully and investigate every nook and cranny, which also leads to more story content you would otherwise just skip or not encounter.

Listening to John Bolton is weird to me, because I find him very insightful and thorough which, oddly, makes me forget my political differences with him until he circles back to an action point or policy preference that I find reprehensible.

Honestly, Trump's administration kidnapping a foreign head of state and strategically seizing control of valuable natural resources in the process *is* the most American thing they could be doing. And it is, in fact, what the Dems have been doing for the longest time as well.

Our NYE activity was watching 'House of Gucci' (2021). What a wonderful film! It could have reached Shakespearean heights, too, I am sure. But despite the not-too-short runtime, it needed at least an hour or so more of development. Patrizia's emotional arc should have had more breathing room.

Sometimes a lack of inhibitions is actually good. But it is an art to know when inhibitions are obstacles and when not. Ironically, this requires a sort of second order, selective inhibitory response to letting go of inhibitions. That is fascinating to think about!

It is such a sad thing that we have so few extant sources of Charvaka philosophy. The radical negative heartbeat of Charvaka philosophy breathed life into the whole organism of the Indian tradition; it carried the dialectic! A MVP if there ever was one.
