“I’m taking this pretty seriously!”
There are a few rafts in the game that you can use to circle the island, occasionally helping you bypass the more dangerous routes, and they stay parked where you leave them.

But circling back to where you shoved off from causes the raft to reset to its original spot, leaving you stuck in the drink

Perseus generally plays fair, but there are exceptions.

Hop on this particular raft and do the logical thing of sailing due north for an instant Death By Crab.

Thank goodness for save states.

(1/2) Tried the latest EGGCONSOLE release, Courageous Perseus, last night for a bit. Seems cool for the time, if maaayyybbbeee a little bit tedious, assuming I’m playing it correctly.

It’s essentially Shark Shark!: You start out weak in attack and defense and can build these up by killing weaker…

I knew that the original Xbox freaked out if you tried to swap HDDs. I didn’t realize it also did this if you swapped DVD drives. Looks like I’ll be tearing the good and bad drives down to the laser assembly and swapping those.

Are…are they allowed to do that?!

(1/2) Minorist of spoilers for this week’s episode of The Pitt.

A case on there reminded me of the Death Star Playset. The “trash” for the trash compactor part was these three sponges that you ripped up into little pieces….

I always like it when they throw a few fake nominations in amongst the real ones, just to keep us on our toes.

A group of adventurers battles through a fantasy world while riding on the backs of a giant turtle and giant bird in order to recover an ancient artifact from an evil overlord.

Yes, Golden Axe is indeed a fine Faery Tale Adventure knock-off.

(3/) On the plus side, it’s pretty easy to play through on a second screen, so I got to rewatch many fine films while playing through it.

Someone on Sega-16 rated it as a 9/10, and I can only assume by this score that they’ve never played another video game. 4/10 from me.

(2/) …yet weirdly empty world. The two fast travel methods available to you early on are mostly useless, and the third only becomes available after completing about 90% of the game.

You can give it a pass in some areas since it’s an early CRPG, but sometimes less is more….

(1/) That’s a wrap on The Faery Tale Adventure. It probably took me around 20 hours to get through with a FAQ as guidance, most of that walking around the game’s ~15,000-screen overworld.

Was it worth it? Eh. It’s got some interesting ideas that are completely crushed by its ridiculously large…

They’re really putting in that extra effort on these Silent Hill films to make Paul WS Anderson’s efforts seem passable by comparison.

Gonna tell my grandkids that this was “Sewer Surfin’” from Turtles in Time.

(Watches Rick step on a kid’s roller skate misplaced on a stair, causing him to tumble all the way down and faceplant into the birthday cake positioned at the bottom of the staircase)

More fun: Your inventory lets you store an undetermined amount of items, but only shows you the first dozen.

The FAQ I’m consulting advised me to have 30-35 gold keys on hand. With no way to count, I risked it…

I’ll be farming baddies for a while to make my way out of here (doors lock behind you).

I’m in a different dungeon now. This corridor, which appears to be the right way to go, runs north and south. It takes around 75 seconds of walking straight before you encounter anything at all. Absolute peak.

JFC, this game.

Run out of food in a dungeon, etc., and you’ll start to lose Vitality at such a ridiculously slow rate that it’s basically inconsequential.

But your guy will also start twitching while you walk around like a junkie going through withdrawal. So have fun with that I guess.

Made it to a cave in the snowy region and managed to wreck a dragon by freezing time with an object and stabbing him repeatedly in the back.

Also, the game apparently rewarded my careful efforts to stockpile rations by making them all go bad the moment I set foot in this area. Fun!

The main key to surviving early on appears to be…fences. That’s it. You can stab skeletons through them without getting hurt, but you’ll need to kind of step out and back in to take care of anything else until you nab a better weapon off a corpse.
