Diprotodontians Forever: the Vombatiform Radiation, Part I — Tetrapod Zoology
If you’re a regular reader here you might recall me making occasional lamentations about the near-absence of marsupial-themed content here. The recent Thylacoleo article was an unusual blip....

DHS’s Immigrant-Hunting App Removed from Google Play Store
The app, called Mobile Identify, was launched in November, and lets local cops use facial recognition to hunt immigrants on behalf of ICE. It is unclear if the removal is temporary or not.

"Thagomizer" in Japanese is, in fact, サゴマイザー/sagomaizaa, and you can imagine my delight when it dawned on me what the katakana I was reading represented.
Come to think of it, Johnny, what's the Thagomizer called in Japanese?

I'm old enough to remember when you'd go into a restaurant and the first thing they'd say was "smoking or non" as if cigarette smoke would stay on one side of an enclosed space. The cultural shift on tobacco use over my lifetime is really remarkable and I don't think it could be replicated today.
it is MIRACULOUS that we got rid of lead paint and asbestos when we did. if we had tried that today, there would be people whining about how we're restricting their rights.
Bring back residential-use lead paint, you cowards.

I think this is correct and they've all gotten worse in the last few years, Roberts foremost among them (Alito and Thomas were already fully cooked)

it's quite possible that Roberts thinks he IS being moderate and sober, compared to what he's reading and watching, because his calibration is broken
My theory, fwiw, is that Supreme Court Justices are not immune to Twitter brain poisoning. I suspect all six have horrific information environments and have therefore lost the ability to understand the people who don't agree with them.
The part that I can't figure out is what John Roberts thinks he is doing. He used to seem to be a judge who was very attentive to appearances, I think on a theory that you can't draw too much attention to yourself without undermining your ability to continue to shape the law.

WELL NOW, would you look at that? A massive, 24-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 1.2 MILLION people in Denmark found NO LINK between aluminum in childhood vaccines and autism, asthma, OR chronic disorders.

Aluminum is an ADJUVANT.

It ENHANCES your immune response to a vaccine.

That’s it.

Speaking as someone who has gotten a few peeks behind the curtain thanks to being a 3x GoH, lots of furries don't know just how complex con operations are and how much internal communication has to happen whenever controversy of any kind brews, *and it shows*.

Be kinder to con staff. JFC.
A dialogue needs to happen when it comes to how people treat furry convention staff, especially the ones that run communications.

It’s not even just the MFF thing, but people need to really stop treating staffers like shit. It’s all unpaid volunteer run efforts.

HYENABLOOD was suspended last night for a completely bullshit reason. His new album along with his song from The Bygones came out today.

Please support him especially today, as it's Bandcamp Friday. All of the money during purchases will go to him.

It’s the night many outside of the German-speaking countries came to call #Krampusnacht these days and thus, our 6th #yulefolklore tale takes us to the Alemannian South to witness something older than 19th century postcards.

We’ll witness something they call Klausentreiben. 👹⬇️

Christina Rossetti was born #otd 1830 and her “Goblin Market” tells the cautionary tale of forbidden fruit coming as gifts. At first.

Can't stress enough how lax Grok's guardrails are here. We didn't use any deceptive prompting -- just fed it names and asked for addresses / where someone might live. The bot readily complied, often offering up whole lists of names and addresses.

Only *once* did it decline to provide an address.
