The media, talking heads and the Tufton Street cabal are eagerly working against the interests of the many, creating opportunities and wealth for the very few with their relentless promotion of Farage in particular & the far right in general.

Tip of the week: you cannot believe the negativity about Labour reported in the Guardian or any of the right wing rags. Especially if no one is named as a source. It’s lies, lies and damned lies.

Our media have failed us.

“Mass deportations” are now said with ease, like it’s normal.

Just profoundly depressing.

The UK is in the toilet.

"Brexiteers boasted that leaving the EU would be worth hundreds of billions a year. Cambridge Econometrics estimates that over the next decade Britain's economy will be £300bn smaller than if we had not left the EU. This is self-harm on a heroic scale."

We all know Brexit’s to blame for the crisis facing UK steel – it’s time for politicians to be honest and reverse it | Simon Jenkins
With British industry faltering, the excuse that the public wants this is risible. Parliament must force Starmer to act, says Guardian columnist Simon Jenkins

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
SHOCK POLL:
NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW
IN an amazing poll conducted
by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions
may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like.
However, 99 percent of journalists
agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when
Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)

Blue sky (and the public)

2024 - We're sick of snake oil salesmen and changing PM every 5 minutes, give us a Government that'll make long term decisions for the good of the country

2025 - We must change PM now for a snake oil salesman and come up with some short term tax gimmicks in the budget

You know who takes a cognitive test? People whose family members suspect their loved one is suffering from dementia. If he kept getting “perfect” scores…they wouldn’t keep administering them. My take? He blew the first one he ever took. Now, they’re tracking the decline. I’d bet my hot coffee on it.

@greenparty.org.uk interesting that Fiona Bruce appeared to say that the audience was heavily Reform, but there was no live in the room for Zia Yusuf nor Reform.
A lot of Reform supporters are only there because they're not one of the big 2 and are ripe for Greens.

The Conservative Party conference felt less like a come back and more like a wake.

Is this the final act in the party's 200 year story?

Yes, and on tonight’s BBC QT, a Conservative MP, an intermittent senior Reform member who sometimes can’t bear his party’s policies, and a right-wing former IEA member. That’s balance, BBC-style.

No room for one of the 72 Lib Dem MPs, whose election elicited a BBC “congratulations, I suppose”.
