We present multi-immersion Oblique Plane microscope (miOPM), a light-sheet platform that can be adapted to a wide range of applications, from sensitive live cell imaging to imaging organs and cleared tissues.

Like we've known the answer to this question since 1941.

Johns Hopkins sophomore student Florin Selaru develops a new scheme to deconvolve colors in histological sections for digital pathology.

It greatly outperforms traditional linear color deconvolution.

Congrats Florin!

Beautiful day out hiking the Camporaghena to Sassalbo route through the Appenines today with a bonus village dog who followed us the whole way

Check this out: This is what the human fallopian tube looks like as one travels through its different sections.

We have developed a new 3D single-cell tissue mapping workflow to automatically/accurately detect ovarian cancer precancerous lesions (STICs).

🚀 Our new paper is out @natmethods.nature.com!

Kuffer & Marzilli engineered conditionally stable MS2 & PP7 coat proteins (dMCP & dPCP) that degrade unless bound to RNA, enabling ultra–low-background, single-mRNA imaging in live cells.

On the politics, that is. On the policy, I think he vastly underestimates how bad the situation is within the executive branch. It's by no means a settled question whether the government doing nothing is better than doing what it's currently doing.

This piece isn't bad, necessarily, it just falls into the pundit trap of "we can easily extrapolate from what came before to what will happen now". Nothing about the last 6 months leads me to believe that is a useful analytical framework in 2025.

From #ome-ngff-validator you can open open #OME-Zarr images in a bunch of viewers, and neuroglancer's rendering of multi-channel images just got a lot nicer: ome.github.io/ome-ngff-val... - See github.com/google/neuro...

Here is the "pro res zoom" shot. Like... How?
A zoomed in photo of a stone house

Not going to get into the "what is a photo" debate, but I will say the zoom on the new pixel is really something. Here's a normal shot from my backyard. If you zoom way in on the top of the mountain you'll see a small village there.
A picture of a backyard with some houses and a mountain in the background. On top of the mountain, barely visible, is a village.
