the money was good however, and everybody's family was broke all the time, so we stuck it out. i can't even imagine how much worse all those problems have to be for migrants, who are paid less and have even fewer recourses available for abuse

it's insanely hard work! it seems like every year at least a few kids passed out from the exertion and heat, to say nothing of how common harassment (sexual and otherwise) and the like was from the adults that oversaw us
