This was my exact reaction when I heard the news. There wasn’t much of the BioWare I knew left but I can’t imagine even the ghost of that type of creativity and expression making it through after this.
Buyers: So your games... guns and football, yes?

EA: Mmhmm, mmhmm, mostly guns and football, yep.

Buyers: No gay stuff? No politics we're not going to like?

EA: Haha, definitely not! Hey, could you give me one sec? I just need to shut down a studio real quick.

I had not heard Microsoft’s new plan for games summed up so well before.

I never really know what to do with social media so here are my dogs.

Blue Prince. Up there with Inscryption for pure solo artist vision and breakthrough playability. I’m not an indie game aficionado but when something like this breaks through and is so clean and perfectly done it deserves to be seen.

My warm up sketch of the day, having fun with She-Hulk and Cyclops. I reckon Jen would appreciate a guy who's not afraid to date women more powerful than him.

Bro has not let his foot off the gas in recent X-Men canon. He needs to go on a date on something, just take a day and chill.

@nekura-art.bsky.social Here was the sketch. Everyone has wings but her, everyone has boba tea (she’s sitting on a giant one) except the dog who is an angel (he’s our dog who passed). She’s anime, animals are all chibi, we’ll provide reference for everything.

I played a good chunk of Kingdom Come 2. I enjoy much of the simulation aspect and the travel but I can’t get into the combat and I always drift away from things that look like RPGs but don’t let me control who I am to any real extent. Once I was kitted out and could survive I lost a goal.

Genre definitions are not gate keeping. Opinions and preferences are not gate keeping. Knowing what craft people do and what they are passionate about helps to teach us what to expect from them.

Headed to GDC next week. It’s always the way in this business that when you’re the most excited about what you’re doing you also can’t talk about it. Dreams are being dreamed though so wish me luck.

Dungeons of Hinterberg is my late game of the year for 2024. Cozy, surprising and heartfelt, it’s a fresh premise for an RPG setting, just long enough not to outstay its welcome and delivers surprises all the way through. It’s more adventure / JRPG (no real decisions, preset character) but splendid.

Watching Baldur’s Gate 3 rock the world as a sequel to a BioWare series — a love letter even— not made by BioWare was a tad painful. The result that, at least for a moment, people are reminded that genres don’t die and simply wait for good titles to explode makes it all worth it. Also BG3 is rad.

I woke up thinking “isn’t it odd someone didn’t just replace Twitter after it got sold and destroyed?” So anyway here I am.
