By day, bringing progressive orgs together to build community power. By night, local Democratic organizer. At all times husband, dad and big nerd. "Nazis. I hate these guys."
Latinos for Spanberger just launched and I'm here for it. As DLOV VP, seeing her promise to kill Youngkin's immigration order Day 1 tells me everything. Local cops should do "community policing, not immigration raids that undermine trust." Ready to organize?: abigailspanberger.com/latinos-for-...

the commonwealth of virginia in the 21st century is a diverse, cosmopolitan place where some of the best of the old and the new mix to form something exciting, and these people hate it.

gosh it's almost like every single person arguing that these were *obviously* going to be used for oppression was right and every cop and public figure who testified the opposite way was either openly lying or so gormlessly naive that they shouldn't be trusted to breathe without supervision

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain.

Donald Trump has committed at least 16 of those same offenses.

I'm only just now learning about this but it seems to me that this has not only been blown out of proportion but his position appears to have been inverted. Despicable.
I feel like I'm losing my mind. Here is the transcript of what Zohran Mamdani actually said about the phrase "globalize the intifada." This is his "refusal to disavow it." This is what has people terrified. Just fucking read it.

Spot on. This is the clearest explanation I’ve seen. It ‘s relatable, and humanizes the issue in a way everyone can understand.

We have a madman in the White House who is actively trying to trigger total war.

If Jeffries, Schumer, or any other Democratic leaders try to justify this, shrug indifferently, or write a strongly-worded letter and call it a day, they need to step down or be aggressively primaried.

Lisa is great and will be a lot better than Wittman who needs to go!
From eviction as a child to working my way through college, I’ve lived the American Dream.

While politicians in Washington jeopardize the promise of America, I'm going to fight to protect it.

I’m stepping up as part of a new generation of leadership. I hope you'll join me.

I worked with a bunch of cool people on this issue as an employee of @afscme.bsky.social way back in 2011. Successfully restoring child care for 17,000 kids remains one of the highlights of my career. Shame on those who would kick little kids out of preschool and put working parents into crisis.

How is it that there is something closer to justice in Morrisey's case than there is in Trump's?
“There is a 20-year history of ... reporting of these kinds of incidents. ... There have been numerous reports of other courts, judicial bodies, finding dishonesty with respect to Mr. Morrissey.”
Joe Morrissey's defamation suit against Richmond activist dismissed
A Circuit Court judge ruled that the activist's labeling of Morrissey as a “liar,” a “violent thug” and a “sexual predator” had a "factual basis."

Dems in Congress seem to have missed a key lesson in leadership: Be the thermostat, not the thermometer!

Don’t just read the room, tell the room what to feel & what to do about it.

THE INCREDIBLE HULK #181: an analogy for the current moment. Canada is represented by Wolverine, feisty, resilient and punching above his weight. The US is represented not by the noble Captain America, but the Hulk, a dumb and impulsive brute who somehow forgot that Canada is a sovereign country.

DHS names schools, hospitals and churches as sites for enforcement. My mind immediately went to the ways that the state terrorized Black people throughout history but specific examples from the civil rights era like Bloody Tuesday. This isn't a dog whistle, they are saying it plainly and out loud.
Oral histories from the participants in Bloody Tuesday - Tuscaloosa Civil Rights History and Reconciliation Foundation

I hope, but I genuinely doubt, that the water infrastructure crisis in the City of Richmond that has forced the General Assembly to postpone the Commonwealth's business and the Governor to flee to his tax free horse farm will lead both to adequately fund fixing it.

Stuff I think is not cool: neo-nazi cabinet appointments, "right to work" for less laws, blaming marginalized people for the failures of a government or political party, acting like child rearing isn't also work, people who profit from my desire for my children to be free from sickness or injury

stuff I think is cool: local journalism, busting trusts, intentionally dismantling legacy public policy designed with slavery, jim crow or massive resistance in mind, voting, the equal protection clause, "the rising american electorate," star trek, mexican food
