I hope this turns out to be a real film, this very short teaser is really impressive.

Japan's best stop-motion studio isn't loud about it. But the quiet charm of its work speaks for itself.

I love Ernest and Celestine, this looks like it's right up my alley. Despite what the suits at the big animation studios think, 2-D animation is alive and kicking!

I'm still reading the newsletter, but I'm super intrigued by this. One thing that stood out so far is the director has apparently been working on this film for 11 years.
The Glassworker is a gorgeous, moving, sometimes brutal feature from Pakistan. Making it was a decade-long struggle.

Ghibli inspired it, but this is no GenAI knockoff. It’s a deep study of Hayao Miyazaki's and Isao Takahata's filmmaking. We explore: animationobsessive.substack.com/p/learning-t...

Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki didn't start as the artists they became. Surviving the brutal world of TV anime in the '70s changed them and their style.

They made classics like Heidi and Anne of Green Gables and found their own paths, as we explore:

rough portraits of Mandy Muse and Lily Kawaiii (don't know her actual last name, just her handle). Think I might try more of the painterly approach to Mandy, like how it's shaping up with Lily.

I'm really happy I discovered Animation Obsessive. They have some great articles and videos. I'd like to watch quite a bit more Soyuzmultfilm's films.

A French film swept Japan in the '50s — and its impact on Japanese animation was immense.

Among its fans were Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and their co-workers at Toei Doga. We explore how they saw it, why they loved it and what they learned:

Watched the short Soviet animated film "There Will Come Soft Rains" after reading about it in a recent Animation Obsessive newsletter.

It's stylish, bleak and disturbing - a nightmarish depiction of a post-apocalyptic future. You can find the film on YouTube.
