I’ve been getting away with it all my life. Comms, content and copy - finance and sport. 🎗️
A couple of superb red herrings in today’s #NYT #Connections, one very funny.

Did Faye from Steps base her look on Tom Morley from early Scritti Politti? #TOTP

Well, it has "provoked debate", alright. Mainly along the lines of "Has Bobby Gillespie only just become a massive bell-end with a tin ear for racial sensitivity, or were the signs there as long ago as 1994 when he put a neon Confederate flag on an album sleeve?" www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Roy Wood do anything for love (but Roy won’t do that)
Nice! But can you name a song about Roy Wood.?

That’s sad news. He’ll always look to me like that effortlessly cool guitarist in that famous Otis Redding and the MGs performance filmed in Oslo I think.

Did #MOTD just use “A New Career In A New Town” over the Everton pre-game montage? #Bowie #wuzzawuzza

Too subtle for some…
Your dog is frightened of fireworks? I don't know why. The fireworks are only being friendly.

Oh Spurs. While Richarlison, Muani and Tel have been mostly toothless, Troy Parrott - who we sold for about 10p and a bag of sweets - hit two beauties for ROI against Portugal (sending Ronaldo off in the process) taking him to almost 20 goals this season already. Will we ever learn? #COYS

Sad news that another Topps Football Card legend has gone. Has there ever been a more Old Norse team than that mid-70s Middlesbrough side? Boam, Foggon, Spraggon, Maddren, Craggs…. you can imagine them travelling to away games on a longboat.

Sounds like a job for Dream Themes, eh @robmesure.bsky.social?
I reckon everyone in the UK would be much happier if we adopted the theme from Grandstand as our national anthem.
