While playing 5e, can you never find a spell worth casting that doesn't eat at that concentration you're already holding?
In #6thDawn I've modified spellcasting where concentration is usually optional, but you might not want to give it up.

#TTRPGRising #TTRPG #DnD

Optional Concentration

Some spells have an active component beyond yourself that you must control, but otherwise work without your intervention. If you choose to concentrate on these spells, they work just as concentration spells above. However, you can choose to not concentrate on them, this keeps the spell going with no control over it whatsoever.
Fear

3rd-rank illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self (30-foot cone)
Components: V, S, M (a white feather or the heart of a hen)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 minute

You project a phantasmal image of a creature's worst fears. Each creature in a 30-foot cone must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or drop whatever it is holding and become frightened of you for the duration. *While concentrating on this spell*, you can use your action to target all creatures in another 30-foot cone, but can't affect a creature again if it has succeeded on a saving throw against this casting of fear. Invisibility
2nd-rank illusion
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (an eyelash encased in gum arabic)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 hour

A creature you touch becomes invisible until the spell ends. Anything the target is wearing or carrying is invisible as long as it is on the target's person. The spell ends for a target that attacks or casts a spell.

*While concentrating on the spell* and no creatures currently benefit from the spell, you can use your action to touch another creature to turn it invisible. Moonbeam
2nd-rank evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V, S, M (several seeds of any moonseed plant and a piece of opalescent feldspar)
Duration: Optional concentration, up to 1 minute

A silvery beam of pale light shines down in a 5-foot radius, 40-foot-high cylinder centered on a point within range. Until the spell ends, dim light fills the cylinder.

When a creature enters the spell's area for the first time on a turn or starts its turn there, it is engulfed in ghostly flames that cause searing pain, and it must make a Constitution saving throw. It takes 2d10 radiant damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

A shapechanger makes its saving throw with disadvantage. If it fails, it also instantly reverts to its original form and can't assume a different form until it leaves the spell's light.

*While concentrating on this spell*, you can use an action to move the beam 60 feet in any direction.

Dwarves don't have this issue. They're too busy perfecting their craft (as is tradition) to go out. For the most part, they appreciate the work ethic of humans, but damn are those tallfolk so impatient
dartagnantt.bsky.social
This is why elves are like that. They might like humans, but many of them will remind them of dead friends and they don't want to go through that again. The psychological defense mechanisms may also express themselves as arrogance
dartagnantt.bsky.social
Elves and dwarves age like humans until adulthood at which point it's really slow (as tradition).
Young elves tend to go out being all flighty and shit making human friends, at around 100 (when most elves are considered adults in like all media) most of those friends are dead.

One of the Trump Administration's most openly fascist moments and CNN edits it out.

Tells you everything you need to know about a news network that has a firm policy against telling you everything you need to know.
cwebbonline.com
Stephen Miller said the quiet part out loud. Trump has “plenary authority,” then suddenly went silent. Their plan wasn’t to be public yet. Clearly, someone hit the panic button in his earpiece.

It gets weirder: CNN uploaded the interview with the “plenary authority” comment edited out.

Yeah, it's pretty neat in concept, and the popularity of S&F kind of forced wotsy's hand, but I don't think they know what they're doing. I think they peaked at rewriting mirror image

It's a mess. It's a player facing feature that the DM is not allowed to touch... in the DMG. Which players get at 5th level for no reason (unless you don't want to play with it). That you then staff with NPCs who can do maybe two things in a room for you (The PCs can't do shit)
dartagnantt.bsky.social
Strongholds and Followers.
Not really. I tried going there for inspiration, but it's lacking in that specific department.
This was based off of the idea oneD&D bastions promised but made no attempts in fulfilling

While inside the room, you can assign your staff to perform the following activities:

Gather Intelligence.
You can send an agent to infiltrate a location to gather information on a person, place, or object. The agent travels from your bastion to the selected location and makes an Intelligence (Investigation) check with a DC determined on the risks involved, as shown in the table below.
Depending on the result, the spy will take differing amounts of time to do their work and what information they can retrieve... if they return at all.

Hey all, it's #WIPWednesday.

So what are you working on?

Inquiring minds and the #TTRPGCommunity want to know!

As for us, we're putting together a whimsical Halloween one-shot.

Think like a slightly more mature Halloween Town, lol.

Hey #TTRPGCommunity! Less than a week until the #Kickstarter for #KOKOTÖNA goes live, so for this #WIPWednesday I'd like to share with you some old concept art and text from way back when the #TTRPG was early in development!

#RPGLatAm
Reddit screenshot of a post dated more than 2 years ago.

The title reads: I'm working on a Mörk Borg compatible Mesoamerican inspired setting called KOKO◈TÖNA, I am gonna start sharing little bits of lore and content here and on the game's Twitter! Hope you like it!

The image shows an aztec style glyph in red on a black background with the text: Years of Ceremonial Flower Wars have reduced the continet-spanning Teotekan Empire to ashes. Tez-Kozamalotl, Huei'Tlatoani, supreme ruler of the seven imperial tribes has succumbed to the madness of embarking into Likland, the accursed eastern continent, and sacrificing the True Thieves of the Flesh as the final offering to Huei'Huei-Naktokatl's ancient bargain. He crawls out of his Temple-Palace, a rotting husk of skin and bones. He coldly snatches a blood-obsidian knife and plunges it into his own chest, ripping his still-beating heart out. He devours it whole then smashes it under the glare of Huei'Huei-Metzhuotl's blood-red moon. As blood gushes from his mouth, he flashes a maniacal grin and addresses his followers, issuing a final command: KOKOTÖNA A screaming aztec style female face Mirror images of Makizkoatl scultupres, two-headed snakes. with the text "First came HER Then came HER MATE"

For #wipwednesday I want to show off where my #ttrpg Action Delinquents is at. Instead of trying to be overly clever, I'm keeping focused on the core of the game: How do we tell cool stories as soon as possible. Building your character gets you a backstory at the same time as mechanics.

Regeneration.
The swarm-that-walks regains 5 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point.

Discorporate.
When the swarm-that-digs-in-trash is reduced to 0 hit points, it discorporates and its component swarm that make up its body disperses in every direction by the end of its next turn.

Actions

Slam. Melee Weapon Attack. Hit: 19 (3d8 + 6) bludgeoning damage.

Chittering Embrace.
The swarm-that-digs-in-trash moves into the space of a creature within 5 feet of it. The target must make a DC 17 Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is grappled. The swarm-that-digs-in-trash can engulf multiple creatures, moving as necessary, but if this movement forces an engulfed creature even partially out of the swarm-that-digs-in-trash's space, the grapple for that creature ends.

While the swarm-that-digs-in-trash is engulfing the creature, the target takes 9 (2d8) piercing damage at the start of its turn.

When the swarm-that-digs-in-trash dies, assumes its swarm form, or willingly leaves the target's space, it releases any creature it has engulfed.

Bonus Actions
Swarm Form.
The swarm-that-digs-in-trash decomposes into an incoherent swarm made of its component parts or back into its singular form again.
Its statistics become that of a swarm of raccoons, except for its hit points, it drops all held, worn, and carried items, and releases any engulfed creatures.

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."
