I've been wanting to tell my widowhood story publicly for years, but I know I don't have the kind of grief story people want to hear.

No community rallied, no family healed, no strength discovered.

I wrote about the gap between grief narratives and reality.

Why I Find It Hard to Write About Being a Widow
Why is it so hard to write about being a widow? My story has no redemptive arc. No community rallied, no family came together, no strength was discovered. Just sudden loss and ongoing adaptation witho...

WSJ reports that DOJ is going to charge John Bolton.

In case you needed anyone less sympathetic to rally behind than Jim Comey.

If Chicago were a war zone, why would he want his brand to be so prominently displayed?

They could have prevented this with one $10,000 LTO machine and $1,000 in tapes rotated on/off site to a bank vault.

The only feasible way to back up 858 TB of data is with a geographically separated second 858 TB data center.

Or you know, 20 LTO-10 tapes.

Tina Smith says Democrats are digging in: “If anything, we’re feeling more strong.”

“I think we've tapped into something that's really important to Americans.”

“Forgetting they're dead and remembering again every few minutes.” No one talks about this. I had no idea how often thoughts of my children flit through my head every day. It took years before I stoped feeling that shock and gut punch because for a split second, I didn’t remember she was dead.

Most grief stories end at the funeral or jump to "years later."

What about everything in between?

The Christmas hold music while on hold with the bank. The weeks of not sleeping. Forgetting they're dead and remembering again every few minutes. The detective work through drawers looking for clues.

I wrote about the three years after my husband's death.

The blurring of memory. The weight of unanswerable questions. The choice to continue anyway.

It's not about healing. It's about what actually happens.
