I feel like most people haven’t quite processed how the combination of “the DOJ won’t arrest federal agents violating your rights” and “the president can pardon anyone” in combination with “anyone who tries to sue the feds will is endangered” has rendered the bill of rights functionally void

and...then what happened? I honestly don't care if he is a Scientologist, but everything I've seen or heard over the years even back when he lived in Marin, was that he's a devout Catholic. That's what made his support of marriage equality seem so opportunistic.

No argument here, I just think that apart from Newsom being willing to toss trans people under the bus for his political career, hope is not lost that those bills passed by the legislature can still become law.

I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that all these data centers are going into communities that have been historically targeted for exploitation and have the least amount of civic power wielded by the people living there.

Okay, so one thing I was confused about, which other people also seem to not know: Unlike in the federal system, where unsigned bills get a “pocket veto”, apparently in California, bills that are unsigned automatically become law. This is good.

Good on them, it's the responsible thing to do. Thanks to Trump's layoffs they were already pushed beyond what was safe. This way the GOP's actions will affect themselves.

"You are so brave" is the shittiest take on people having to transition with all this staring them in the face. It's not bravery, it's desperation. It's, "I'm going to die if I don't, might as well do this one last thing before giving up".
