You could really be on to something here! Arendt contrasts banality with stupidity. She stressed that agents like Eichmann, while thoughtless, were not stupid - in their fields of action, they are ruthlessly efficient, catastrophically intelligent. Trump, by contrast, really is atrociously stupid.
